Detroit: Become Human has sold 11 million copies including 2 million sold in the last year across PlayStation & PC

Indeed, things are apparently rosy for the company, with de Fondaumière noting the developer saw its highest revenues in its 28-year history during 2024, driven by "exceptional performance" of its back catalogue of games - and 2018's Detroit: Become Human in particular. The company shifted a further 2m copies of Detroit across PC and PlayStation last year, for a new all-time total of 11m.

I double-dipped and got it on PC for $12 a few months ago. They were practically giving it away last year.

Before this thread gets into the most predictable outcome ever, it's kinda crazy to see this studio not doing anything for *at least* 9 years. And that's in the best of cases.

Their Star Wars game could be absoluetly huge if they do it right

Netease has to feel really confident in it because their have been mass firings at all their non-Chinese studios, except Quantum Dream

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.

There are other Studios that last game was 2018 or 19 and there's nothing in sight for them either.
I thought we accepted games taken long to make now...

Asking because I don't know: Is this one that's been given away for "free" often?

I'm not trying to take anything away from QD or the game, I'm just wondering how much that might play into the numbers.

Unless something changed in the last couple days Netease is trying to find a buyer for the studio (and all their other Western studios).

There are other mismanaged studios as well, great point.

When has this game ever been given away for free? Its been on Ps Plus but that doesnt exactly fall under games "sold" or "free" copies. Its been out for 7 years now, I dont think its far fetched to believe this game has been highly successful. Its probably the best Quantic Dreams game.

Probably more difficult to cancel a Star Wars game. If there is anything like the Marvel agreements with Sony, there are commitments made in advance.

It's not like WB canceling their own Wonder Woman game. Not to mention that there is already a publisher in this case: LucasFilms.

I don't think it has anything to do with confidence.

I love detroit. Finished it like 4 times. Great game where you can play a totally different game depending on your choices. Also, awesome graphics. I remember my PS4 pro going full turbine with the game. I fully recommend it. Its the only QD dream that hooked me. I think they actually nailed everything with it. Story, graphics, gameplay, pace. If they do that in a star wars setting, fuck!
