Own the PC version, will doubledip when it hits € 15 on Wii U.
It really is amazing. One of my favourite games this gen.
For those that have Deus Ex HR Retail, how do we get the DC upgrade? Is it a regular update via PSN, do we gotta buy it, or do I need to buy the game again?
Holy shit...I started a new game in case I need to trade in my copy for the DC edition,I spend some time looting from Sarif HQ, must've spent maybe 10 or so minutes. I go to do the mission and once I go to save the 8 hostages I find they were KILLED!
If I waste time before going with Malik to do the first mission they get killed off, blew my frickin' mind. Gonna restart my game since I need every EXP I need.
There is no upgrade. You buy the DC on a disc or on PSN.
Please edit your post. Some people in this thread will be playing for the first time.
The Wii U gamepad stuff looks kinda of neat sometimes but also needless other times. It seems kind of clumsy to have to always look down at the gamepad. I don't really see how pausing the game to look at ebooks on the gamepad is any different from just bringing it up on the main screen.
I've wanted this game for the longest, but then the DC got announced...... and now I've sworn off buying anything current gen...... so conflicted
^ What you are reading there is about their work on the original (non-DC) release. They did some work on the PS360 versions.
Now they did the DC. Presumably EM is busy with DX4 to do it themselves.
I am not sure if Nixxes didn't work at all on the PC DC, but their code would be used as the base anyway so it doesn't really matter.
Thanks for the clarification. Here's hoping they fixed the stuttering issue that was present everywhere that almost ruined my playthrough if not for ENB.
The original PC version has already been patched to significantly reduce if not eliminate the stuttering.
Anyone know exactly what they mean when they mention "visual tweaks"? Anything to get excited over specifically like MSAA of removal of piss filter?
The filter is still in the game. I think they just added the engine upgrades from The Missing Link. Probably won't look all that different.

WiiU VS 360 (2011 version) comparison. Seems like quite an upgrade in lighting and AA at least :O
Oh man I hope the visual improvements are included in the PC version as well. That mod that fixed the piss filter on PC was pretty resource hungry and I doubt it will work with the DC version anyway.

I think the piss filter isn't gone, since it's kind of included in this recent 1 hour playthrough of Deus Ex WiiU: http://youtu.be/OsXRpIGw3g0. All in all, I still wonder if these graphics (AA, better lighting, fog etc..) will be ported to ps360, or if they get the old version. Can they handle these graphics?
It's presumably stuff Eidos did in The Missing Link anyway so if those enhancements were present in the console versions of that DLC then why wouldn't they be in there?
I don't think there's any obvious, significant improvements to the visuals with the exception of a muted filter (which is significant for artistic reasons). All versions should have the same tweaks, sampling rates of various effects varying. With The Missing Link, Montreal made some adjustments to the engine and the way it handled certain things, like shadows. The main visual improvements to the Director's Cut involve bringing these engine changes over to the main game. As good as The Missing Link looked, it wasn't like some total, amazing overhaul of the engine. For most part Human Revolution will probably look like Human Revolution, with some small graphical amendments.
Apparently the game is rebuilt with the new engine tweaks, which makes sense. So, for example, on PC you don't download some "upgrade" to the version you already have installed. You have to download an entirely new build of the game, I think. This would mean all console builds are also a "new build". The Director's Cut is the newest engine build of the game, including those graphical tweaks and whatever additional content has been compiled in. Thus, with the exception of little things here and there (sampling rates of effects, IQ, framerate, etc), all console builds should be pretty damn similar.
So, all the versions could have AA and better lighting (which weren't present in the ps360 DLC versions)? They specifically stated these 2 tweaks were because of the WiiU power blabla. The Missing Link effects and added tweaks stand beside that imo.
I didn't realise The Missing Link was missing (lololol) effects on the 360/PS3. So maybe the new build will too be missing things on 360/PS3.
I'm really curious what Straight Right has lined up next. Another Wii U port? An original title (Funky Barn 2: Now with Actual Funk Music! [<-- day one if true, btw!])?
Such a shame that the Wii U version is 50$, I would totally pick it up if the price was more reasonable.
Except that it looks like it does pause the game during that video showing it off. I have an easier time using a mouse than touch controls as well. Maybe compared to ps360 it will be better.
Not the best comparison considering how much darker and yellowish the 360 version looks compared to PC and PS3.This is a comparison between the old ps360 build and then new WiiU build. You can see the lighting is much improved and it has indeed better AA. The Missing Link adds fog and weather effects and softer shadows. These will come to the new ps360 build, but AA and lighting I can't imagine personally. The piss filter is kind of gone but its due to video capturing since it's present in all other vids. Straight Right is doing a really good job with this I think for WiiU and it also shows (imo!) it's a bit more capable .

They had another project in the works right? Somewhere they stated they had an unannounced game in the works, an original game. Can't find it
EDIT: "We've got two other titles in development. One of them is original, our own IP, and another is based on another big franchise that will come out in 2013. It's a big title and you will have heard of it."

I thought they said they're reworking the boss fights so you can take them out without fighting, ala the original
but I just saw a video of the first boss's demo done by the staff, and they just hacked a turret and used it to kill the boss and were like "WELL THERE YOU GO GUYS, FAN FEEDBACK!"
:S
Oh boy, this still hasn't made the rounds ? It's been confirmed like a year ago that the other game was Funky Barn. They have not other game in the works (that we know of).
How did you end up doing so many Wii U titles?
TC: It's funny the way these things work out. Obviously we pursued the Mass Effect opportunity extremely aggressively. Once we signed that deal and started working on that game, we became pretty immersed in everything Wii U. We had a couple of other projects on the go, but ME3 was really the focus. And naturally, you're playing around with the hardware and you start to think about other ideas you have that might lend themselves to the console.
So we decided to put a bit of our own money into bringing something original to Wii U. That game, Funky Barn, has just been announced and will ship with 505 in the launch window. More recently Straight Right signed another deal for a Wii U title. It's another big one, and will ship in 2013. I expect it will be announced later this year.

DD: Youve been working on the development of this title on Wii U for over a year now. Do you feel youre acquainted with the consoles hardware now?
TC: Definitely. We have another title, Funky Barn, coming out under our Tantalus label at launch too, so we've been elbow-deep in the Wii U for a long time now.

It's still Funky Barn.
Thanks for link . What is interesting though: Where is Funky Barn? It was supposed to ship during launch window and we are a year ahead of that.
Funky Barn is right here: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/titles/14866558072986296719/14866558072986296720
Released on launch day everywhere.
Thanks again. I own a WiiU since launch, but I have totally missed this game. Based on posts in the community it isn't quite popular or well known.
