Developer of 2004?

Nintendo

Metroid: Zero Mission
Pikmin 2
Paper Mario 2

That's R&D1, EAD, and IS, though.

If we're picking a single house... KCEJ for MGS3.

I gotta say either Nintendo or Namco

Nintendo:

Paper Mario 2, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 2, Mario Power Tennis. Oh, and Super Mario 64 DS

Namco: Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, and Katamari Damacy. Oh god what great three games.

MPT is Camelot, though. Isn't it?

My vote goes to Nintendo though, for their overall efforts (with both the GBA and GC).

If I had to single out one dev. team, probably KCEJ.

if you'd vote for nintendo this year, is there any conceivable year in which you wouldn't vote for nintendo? i'm not trolling this time. i'm just asking.

Camelot under Nintendo, or Camelot and Nintendo, or "Nintendo". Depends how you want to look at it, but its the same staple applied to all other publishers.

I honestly can't think of a developer that released more than game that I loved this year. So I'd have to choose between Team Ninja and KCEJ, butit would be for one game only.

2001 I wouldn't have voted for them. Aside from SSB Melee and Conker's Bad Fur Day, they didn't release much of anything that I was interested in.

Yes. When Nintendo has a worse year than another developer.

This year was relatively poor for Nintendo (especially coming off 2003: AW2, FE, MKDD, WWI, and Z:WW), as you're presupposing; just not to the point, in my mind, where any other developer bested them.

SSBM = HAL
CBFD = Rare

We're not talking about producers.

2001 had Pikmin, WaveRace:BS, Mario Kart:SC, and Advance Wars. Four games that I really enjoyed. I can't remember what other developers had, but it wasn't a particularly strong year overall.

Hm, 2002 had just Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Fusion. I'm sure another developer topped them.

Working Designs, cause they finally released Growlanser:)

Nintendo will surely sweep next year's awards with hits such as Zelda and Jungle Beat. Course, Bioware might beat them to the punch <again>.

Nintendo and....

No and I think you're trolling :P

Plus Advance Wars DS, Wario Ware Twisted, Wario Ware Touched, Fire Emblem 2, Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, Yoshi's Touch N Go, Mario Kart DS, Zelda DS, and Fire Emblem GC. Not to say each will be a "hit", but still.

"See, you make one good suggestion and then ruin it only a word later, completely wrecking your credibility. (Again.)"

Why should I give a damn what you think about my "credibility". Team Ninja has put out two highly rated games this year. That's more than most. I think your pick of Konami is a joke, but I'm not sad enough to care about it.

Konami!

Metal Gear Solid 3 and Winning Eleven > Everything released this year.

Or, if I have to name a genuine developer: KCEJ.

2001 was one of Nintendo's better years actually. Paper Mario, Pikmin, Advance Wars, SSBM, Mario Tennis GBC, Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble, F-Zero MV, Mario Kart SC, Wario Land 4, Luigi's Mansion...

I'd have to say Namco for this year, they've really been excellent.

-Katamari Damacy
-Ace Combat V: The Unsung War
-Tales of Symphonia
-Baten Kaitos: Wternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
-Time Crisis: Crisis Zone
-Mr Driller: Drill Spirits
-Taiko: Drum Master
-Donkey Konga
-Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2

Nintendo has published this year ...

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Paper Mario 2
Pikmin 2
Zelda: Four Swords
Mario Tennis 2
Wario Ware Touch (JPN)
Super Mario 64 DS
Donkey Konga
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (JPN)
Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
NES/Famicom Classic Line

Not too bad. Almost everything they've published this year was a sequel/remake/port though.

As for single developer, I think it'd be tough to not give it to Bungie. Halo 2 was absolutely the video game story of 2004.

Well in a publisher/house of devs sense then its Namco.

Ace Combat 5, Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Katamari Damacy, Taiko and the work on Donkey Konga all rock..

I've gotta go with Namco - TOS, BK, Katamari, Taiko Drum Master, Ace Combat 5 ...

Treasure would be a close second - Gradius V, Astro Boy, Advance Guardian Heroes
I couldn't agree more.
I'll just add Obsidian because they managed to live up to KOTOR with Sith Lords.

TIE Konami (MGS3&SH4) and Blizzard (WoW)

Honorable Mentions: Midway (The Suffering, Shadow Hearts 2, PSI-Ops,& MK: D)
Namco (all them games)
BIG N (MP2, Pikmin 2, & Paper Mario)

Starbreeze and here is why:

They made on game, but on their first try they made one of the best games I've ever played (and I've played alot). I didnt wanna give it to a company for one game, but they were just so goddamn impressive!
