Devil May Cry 3 question (minor spoilers)

Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorite games ever and I wanted somethning that played like it

so I started playing DMC3..
the mechanics are great and I like the RPG-like elements... replaying levels etc.

however I _HATE_ the enviroment.. I am on mission 7 now.. are all the missions inside this damn goth-tower? Is there more variety in levels later in the game?

talk about boring levels so far.. compared to ninja gaiden this is just awful.. even the first DMC had better nicer looking levels

Yeah. They change. Although many of the upcoming missions "remain" in the tower, the actual look of the stages change quite a bit... the levels take you outside, to the cliffs of the tower, caves/caverns, inside the belly of a leviathan demon, tower rooftops, clock-tower, etc. etc. and finally to hell and back. So, I don't agree with Slindwinder in that the levels don't vary that much.

There is quite a lot of varied environments in DMC3, in fact--DMC3's artwork and stage design is something that's universally praised in many of the reviews. Even the ones that bitched to no end about how "hard" the game was.

I will say though DMC1's characte/enemy/level artwork was much better though. That game, along with POP and God of War have some of the best level design I've ever seen in an action title. NG's level design (however) I wasn't so fond of. Then again stage design isn't why I like NG as much as I do. But hey, Team Ninja and art doesn't really go well together (see Dead or Alive games) Especially that god damn town that we had to keep backtracking in NG for hours on end, so fuckin generic and...and light grey the whole damn time =p

Yea, I forgot about Leviathan's gut. I was thinking about
mission 18 (Lost Souls Nirvana and the flying stone walkways around there)
as being strikingly different than the rest of the Temen-ni-gru "theme".

I guess my take was that if you don't like the look of the game once you've entered the tower you probably won't fall in love with it at any point. I thought it was pretty cool-looking overall.

ok thats to bad, while being in one place is cool in many games (POP:SOT and ICO come to mind), that place should be intersting in itself..

this feels like a standard devil/hell/bland/goth-crap all the time.. and the music... awful

but the game is so fun that I will play it anyway.. I wish Capcom convert DMC:s gameplay system to a different setting (like they did with Dino Crisis and Onimusha from the Resident Evil system)

oh and ninja gaiden levels ruled, nice variety and great music/atmosphere.. :)
