oh, we forgot a gif

I really don't understand why we can't have a physical release of this when DmC and RE:Revelation 2 had them. Very odd considering this looks to have way more work done to it than the DmC remaster.

Did they do anything to add new levels/bosses because if I recall the game had you basically playing the same levels and bosses whether you were Nero or Dante.

I dont follow the hype...I thought this game wasnt that special when it released, so why is it so hyped now ?!

Wouldnt it be better a remake of the 3rd one or the 1st ?

Analysis time boys!

0:20 - Vergil is seen using Force Edge in combination with Yamato. The arm that is using the Force Edge is glowing blue/purple... probably from the new mechanic.

0:22 - Vergil finally has a Rising Launcher with Yamato from the look of things (looks different from Hightime but hard to tell). Probably taken from DmC DE Vergil.

0:24 - Vergil has an aerial Lunar Phase. First animation has him spinner the other direction and the next one is the standard Lunar Phase animation but in mid air. Seems to be much smaller hit box than in DMC3. Knocks enemies down while keeping Vergil in mid air.

0:27 - Lady seen using Two Some Time. Blue tinge on the guns.

0:28 - Trish seen using Flush into Killer Bee... I am guessing she will have moves based off of Ifrit like in DMC2.

0:29 - Trish seen using Rising Dragon.

0:33 - Vergil using Blistering Swords.

1:03 - Lady is seen using Hysterics of Kalina Ann from DMC3.

1:04 - Lady uses Gun Stinger with a Shotgun then uses a charged shot with the Shogtun.. looks a lot like Blue Rose's charged shot.

1:07 - Trish using aerial Lunar Phase just like Vergil right before along with twin hand guns.

1:08 - Trish has access to Pandora's Box as well... wait a minute I thought she wasn't going to be using weapon switching!!!

1:23 - Vergil seen using Spiral Swords

1:24 - Vergil's Devil Trigger shown while also using Rising Dragon (he never had this move before).

1:25 - Vergil is using some sort of completely new super move. He seems to be in Devil Trigger as well... looks bad ass as fuck!

DMC4 is the title with the most underlying potential for high skill, high style combat. It is basically unrivaled in this regard. We'd go nuts over a DMC3 remaster too, but that's just less likely.

Thanks. I can't watch the trailer right now, so I can only go off of some gifs and impressions.

So, I have a question. I haven't played any DMC games since the original on PS2. But IIRC, Vergil dies in that one, right? I know 3 took place before 1, but where does 4 fit, and did he not actually die in 1?

The blog says that they are changing a lot of game play and "tempo" as well. If tempo means they are changing the level design and pacing it so that it feels less repetition then that's godly!

I should look at the footage of the old characters as well to see if I can spot some differences in the game play.

Chronology is 3>1>4>2. Vergil goes into hell in DMC3 (there's a secret cutscene in DMC3) and faces off against Mundus who is the final boss of DMC1 and the demon king who killed their mother. Vergil loses the fight and gets enslaved as Mundus' puppet and appears in DMC1 as Nelo Angelo (he unmasks himself in the final fight to look very similar to Dante just more ghostly). After the fight he sort of mysteriously explodes, his Yamato is seen in DMC4, was broken but gets reforged by Nero's power (who is Vergil's son).

No idea where this new cutscene of Vergil takes place in for DMC4SE. Could be pre-DMC3 era but hard to say because he's fighting the DMC4 puppets.

The chronological order of the series is:

3, 1, 4, 2.

He technically died in 1 as Nelo Angelo, but we don't know if they're using a mechanism to bring him back, or just bringing him back for gameplay.

It's coming to PC aswell! Splendid! Will definitely get it, no question.

Even though I suck very hard at these games, I just love the silliness of DMC.

Hope they've got some new bosses/enemies to reveal at some point. Around three months to go until release so there ought to be more to divulge over time.

Got it. Thank you.

I'll probably end up picking this up. I liked the first one, just simply never got around to the rest at the time.

For his appearance in Special Edition, we’ve used his Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition rendition as a gameplay foundation, and added in elements of his DmC rendition to create the definitive version of the character.

Didn't Dahbomb ask for this in the DmC DE thread? Not saying Capcom did this in reaction, just that he's gotta be happy for that inclusion.

First thing that came to mind but I don't want to get my hopes up :/

They should at least remove the dice game (yes, we know there' s a trick, still a waste of time).

DmC 2013 got a PS4 retail release? I thought it was digital only?

Holy shit at that DMC3 Lady costume. I loved her in DMC3 but hated her redesign/sexing up in 4. Along with Vergil being essentially his DMC3 self, DMC3 fans like myself will be pleased.

Now just add Agni/Rudra and Nevan. :)

DMC4 is my favourite of the series. Nero fighting style jived so well with my own playstyle that, despite how great the additions of all those characters are...I'll probably still just play as Nero again. At least the first time.

If they price this as well as they did Resident Evil Remaster, they have me at launch.

Are there any guides out there on how to "git gud" in these games? I've beaten DMC4 some time ago but it felt like I just barely scratched the surface of what the gameplay has to offer. It seems really difficult to chain the right combos and whatnot. As hard as learning a piano piece.

It got a physical release.

Is that for retail and download? Wondering if it could end up cheaper.

Either way, good pricing.

I imagine it'll be the same for both digital and physical, but I'm not sure.

I'd maybe start here:

Chasertech made some good stuff.

Wait a minute, this is a digital only release in the west? WHY THE FECK did DmC:DE get a physical release and we have to put up with this? Is this in response towards that version's lack of sales (judging from the UK charts, that is)?
