Actually, didn't it do fairly well in Japan? Not Persona "well", of course.
No. It bombed, and bombed hard.

SolarKnight said:It had a pretty good first week and then completely dropped off if I'm not mistaken.
Was it because of supply as I remember some people saying or did the Japanese just not care?
I seriously have no clue if I should buy this now or wait out for the eventual sale I normally don't mind spending money to support devs/buy games day one but damn if this employer could just contact me back about my job I'd buy this in a heartbeat.DidntKnowJack said:Well, I got my copy. Unfortunately had a lot to do tonight so I won't be able to spend any quality time with it yet. So I may as well start tomorrow. Still, I'm just happy I have a copy. Word to the wise - never wait too long to pick up an SMT title. Even though I'm sure this will be available for a while. But I don't like to take chances.
Apparently has a small print run. get it before it's too late.MooMoo said:I seriously have no clue if I should buy this now or wait out for the eventual sale I normally don't mind spending money to support devs/buy games day one but damn if this employer could just contact me back about my job I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
Sort of kind of related to this: I thought the box felt really heavy. Like surprisingly heavy, even though someone mentioned in here that it had a 70+ page manual, and the side was bulging out quite a bit. I assumed that the manual was really just massive. When I got home and opened it, it turns out that since I got the gutted copy, the cartridge was kept in an envelope behind the counter. And when he gave me the game, the employee, instead of just taking the game out and putting it in the box, he folded the envelope into quarters with the game still inside and shoved the whole thing into the box.DidntKnowJack said:One slightly humorous note, I just opened my copy and immediately saw the cartridge on the left side of the box, and the instructions upside down, on the right. Even though I had opened it with the cover art right side up, everything else was backwards. I thought for a moment I had an ultra rare backwards printed box, but no - the cover art was merely inserted upside down. Still, kind of weird it shipped like that.

Unfortunately that means I got the gutted store display copy, which sort of sucks, but at least it just came out today so it's not like the box has been sitting out for days and the employees have taken the game home.
I've kind of of two minds about whether I'm going to look at this thread anymore while playing the game. I typically go for a high strength and defense tank type with my main character in RPGs if I have the choice, so I'm kind of glad that I read that doing that would have screwed me, but on the other hand it kind of sucks not playing the way I want to.
And now I'm reading that you aren't guaranteed the extra content at the end, which I had no idea of. I really don't want to have to play the game with a FAQ to make sure I get to see the Eighth Day.
It is cool that there's three different versions of the Eighth Day, which I also didn't know (although I'm guessing that that means that they're each pretty shorty), but it would have been nice if you were guaranteed one. Granted, having not played the game I have no idea what the story is like and it sounds like it makes sense that only some choices give you the end-game content. Still, it's going to suck playing through the game making the choices I would normally and hoping that I get lucky.

Not really. It performed under Atlus's own expectations, however low sales in Japan were due to stock shortages, so people literally could not buy it for a while. I'm sure Atlus took that into account when evaluating the sales. Even then, the sales weren't that bad. It ended up around 144k.cj_iwakura said:No. It bombed, and bombed hard.

Oh great, well now you can do it again.Chrono Helix said:I managed that on the DS version. I got thefirst.Gin ending

Someone said he already did it on the DS version.Obsessed said:That's suicidal on normal mode at the very least.

EDIT: Gonna look for more reviews tonight, hopefully some are out by now.

Teknoman said:If your music levels seem too low, turn off surround sound, set to headphone or stereo. The surround sound is great on the 3DS and it envelopes you in a ring of sound so to speak...but one of the drawbacks is that the music in most games/ find Mii mini game is lower than usual.

Really? I guess that one trailer really didn't sell the voice acting if that is the case.SpaceBridge said:I gotta admit, the voice acting is really good, and surprisingly brings the story and character to life. I feel alot more invested in Devil Survivor second time around.

The comments were surprisingly tame though.
Kazerei said:Yuzu's route is the shortest and easiest, and it will always be available no matter what dialogue choices you make. But once you're finished that, you should replay the game 'cause the other routes are more ... interesting.
