DF: Switch 2 free upgrade for Switch 1 games is awesome

"Nintendo's first party games for the original Switch produced some of the finest gaming experiences of the last generation console era - but via a series of updates, these titles are taken to the next level on Switch 2, with 4x to 5x resolution boosts, improved frame-rates and more. And unlike the 'Switch 2 Editions', they're completely FREE. Oliver Mackenzie and John Linneman share their notes on the upgrades that caught their attention - and we think you'll be impressed."

00:50 Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom
06:49 Super Mario Odyssey
11:10 HDR digression: why are these games in HDR?
15:15 Splatoon 3
19:13 Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury
23:44 Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and New Super Mario Bros. U

I'm not enjoying the term "Free" in this context. These games are basically having their caps moved to 60 or more and their dynamic rez moved higher and locked there simply due to the uplift in raw performance. The "Free" upgrade is the entry price of the Switch 2 and last time I checked that wasn't Free.

with DF getting the same pixel counts I got, and there by confirming the ones I did in the other thread, I hope this shows that ElAnalistaDeBits is a channel that shouldn't be trusted even for a second. all their pixel counts were completely wrong and nonsensical, and in the past their FPS measurements were also shown to be flawed.

and I have seen so many people post their stuff on here recently... so, just know... all their analysis videos are bullshit.

I mean, I was able to disproof their measurements by looking at their very own video uploads... that's how easy it was to see they clearly just made shit up.

I've seen a lot of stupid takes on Switch 2 but this probably takes the cake.

You drunk?

I've tried Odyssey and 3D World so far and they both look incredible. They look so much better on my 4K OLED.

We need those Xenoblade games updated ASAP.

Seriously, I'm surprised they haven't said anything about these games. Xenoblade X even has a hidden 60FPS mode that people speculated is for Switch 2. Come on Nintendo!

Given how people have been acting about it probably not the stupidest take on Switch 2 you will see today :pie_thinking:

Echos of Wisdom is looking like a pick up for me now, I was put off by all the performance talks when it came out.

That's like saying PS5 games weren't $60 or $70 but $470 or whatever lol

Don't forget, many of us don't own a 4K tv yet. You're talking a good $1200 minimum for a decent one. Pretty soon that "free" upgrade is costing you upwards of $2000. Nintendo is the biggest scam in the history of gaming.
And what if you don't have a couch to sit in front of TV? With today's prices that's probably another $2k!

And you will probably need a better fridge to house all the cooled beverages and snacks to enjoy while playing Switch 2 on your new TV and couch!

Switch 2 is going to ruin finances of a lot of folks!!! 😡😤🤬

You need a house to live in before you can even game.

Barrier of entry for a free upgrade is exceedingly high.

What's next. Paying for water and electricity bills?

Nintendo greedy as always.

Just as BC was the most awesome feature of Series X, BC is, again, the best feature of a new console. Thank God they took the risk, because this is SO unlike Nintendo to take this kind of risk. This is definitely the most indisputable strong point of the Switch.

This is one helluva "Nintendo is so anti-consumer" take. For most of these games, their dynamic resolution was changed from 720p to 1600p or higher. It's fairly obvious that it took work on the backend to make this happen.

Shhh… Some people just can't stand any positive thing related to the Switch 2 here. Be quiet…

I only have two questions: Why didn't I knew of this thread earlier? And why limited to Fridays, are you in a monastery?

ugh, I can't with these positive NS2 threads. Let's go back to awful.

I actually don't notice the Splatoon 3 upgrade that much. It might look a bit cleaner, but honestly Nintendo games are so clean I don't know if a res boost is that apparent. At least not to me.
