DF: Switch 2 free upgrade for Switch 1 games is awesome

I'm not enjoying the term "Free" in this context. These games are basically having their caps moved to 60 or more and their dynamic rez moved higher and locked there simply due to the uplift in raw performance. The "Free" upgrade is the entry price of the Switch 2 and last time I checked that wasn't Free.

So there are two PS4 games, one gets a paid patch on PS5 and the other a free one.

What do you call the free patch?

Don't forget, many of us don't own a 4K tv yet. You're talking a good $1200 minimum for a decent one. Pretty soon that "free" upgrade is costing you upwards of $2000. Nintendo is the biggest scam in the history of gaming.
Shit, I have to pay money for glasses AND go to the doctor once a year to get my eyes checked so I can keep seeing in 4k. Free upgrade my ass.

I didnt think emulation would be better but it sure looks like it. Bottom pic is my screenshot, graphics at 1.5x res, FSR and SMAA on. I dont have a $1k rig either.

a little tip:
right click twice on a Youtube Video and you can copy or save the current frame in full res.

you're posting a 1439p image of an 1800p game that is shown in a 2160p video... this will obviously distort the comparison you're trying to make...
also, wtf is even that weird resolution? why 1439p? the fuck are you running your PC at?

and that PC screenshot looks heavily oversharpened. also, why even use FSR? imagine using SMAA and then ruining the look of the game by slapping FSR on it...

Currently playing totk and am glad I waited. Just bought super Mario 3D world as I havnt played it since Wii U and I'm pretty excited about. Comparisons look great.

ugh, I can't with these positive NS2 threads. Let's go back to awful.

I actually don't notice the Splatoon 3 upgrade that much. It might look a bit cleaner, but honestly Nintendo games are so clean I don't know if a res boost is that apparent. At least not to me.
Well if we want to put a negative spin on this, which has been crossing my mind lately, but if third parties keep pulling the game key card on switch 2 bull shit, then new games on the platform are gonna be a bit of a bummer.

the thought had been crossing my mind a lot recently. Maybe this should have been called Super Switch, because new games are not gonna be appealing with so many game key cards, but the system is a great upgrade for Switch 1 games...

Not sure if you are actually being serious here.

with DF getting the same pixel counts I got, and there by confirming the ones I did in the other thread, I hope this shows that ElAnalistaDeBits is a channel that shouldn't be trusted even for a second. all their pixel counts were completely wrong and nonsensical, and in the past their FPS measurements were also shown to be flawed.

and I have seen so many people post their stuff on here recently... so, just know... all their analysis videos are bullshit.

I mean, I was able to disproof their measurements by looking at their very own video uploads... that's how easy it was to see they clearly just made shit up.
For almost every upgrade he "guesses" a native pixel count of 1440p, the only 1440p game of this batch of updates is Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

It is higher res and more pleasant, but that bottom pic looks really grainy though. Is some dumb AI process involved ? Because I wouldn't be surprised.

With 15000 games we need a thread with a list of the compatible games and the enhancements.
Who could take on such a job @ GAF?

This is either a bit, or there's some of the dumbest motherfuckers alive in this thread.

What third world shit hole do you live in? You've been able to get absolutely fine 4k/60hz 50" panels for $600 dollars for more than half a decade (I bought mine in 2019).

well even worse. multiple of the videos say complete nonsense like "1440p upscaled to 4k with DLSS"... that's not only guessing a wrong resolution, that is fundamentally not knowing how DLSS works and looks.
because those are games that have the rawest edges imaginable with essentially no AA treatment. you couldn't get games that look less like using DLSS if you tried. and you also couldn't get easier to pixelcount games if you tried.

now imagine if that idiot is confronted with a game that uses any form of TAA, where finding raw edges to accurately pixelcount is actually hard. no chance he's getting even a single game right if he can't get Nintendo games that have no Antialiasing right.

And then there's Atlus.

Raidou = 1080p on Switch 1
Raidou = 1080p on Switch 2

Separate SKUs.

Brother, we're talking about a company that made us rebuy the "Royal" version of P5 for that 60fps, "forgot" to actually implement a rumble function in SMT V and the concept of Anti-aliasing is something that's alien to them (Metaphor Refantazio has got to be one of the most uneven looking games due to the ridiculous amount of jaggies that literally bring the whole GFX down).

Raidou running at the same resolution and the same framerate as the S1 version on S2 (60fps) is just... yeah.

They're just that fookin' incompetent AND greedy.

C'mon man, what the fuck of a response is this ?

I mean... aside from being a response to a joke, it's a valid question 🤣. you can get really decent 4K TVs for very low prices, and have been able to for ages. high end 55" OLED 4k 120hz VRR TVs are 1400€ when I look at local stores and online shops. if you find a model from last year or so that's even lower, with barely any reduction in image quality.

again, that's basically the high end, not just a "decent" one.
mid range 4k TVs are often less than half of that, especially if you look for ones by well received budget brands like TCL.
a decent 55" QD mini LED 4k 165hz VRR TV by TCL costs you around 450€. if you run a PC on those at 1080p they even support 240hz I think.

Come on man, don't respond to an obvious joke by starting an argument about the price of TVs

We have one but it's not complete:
