According to DF the power efficiency of the Switch 2 is brilliant and the battery is good.

Cyberpunk 2077 max power consumption
Docket ~22.6 Watts
Handheld ~11 Watts
Battery life 2:16 hours (Stress test)

I thought DF hated the Switch 2. I can't keep up anymore.
DF are experts in their field when they say good things about the Switch 2 and complete liars and idiots, unfit to live, comparable to Mussolini and the most atrocious forms of animal cruelty when they have any Switch 2 criticisms.

Pretty straightforward really.

Dudes trying to bury the talk about the shitty switch 2 screen. That being said, the battery life is pc handheld levels of bad. Like og steam deck bad. I know because I have one.

Power efficiency being "good" is a benefit of being an arm derivative and is expected of arm chips. It's not x86 so it's supposed to be more efficient. If it was bad, we'd actually have something to talk about as that'd be unexpected. Now if Nintendo hadn't been cheap bastards, it would actually have been way better on tsmc 5nm. It'd also have a better battery life and be a bit faster.

I personally don't think the battery life is very good, but it's acceptable within the Switch 2's proposal. They probably didn't want to put a larger capacity battery for fear of making the console bigger and heavier, which would be uncomfortable for children who are an important part of its audience.

Battery life has been completely fine for me. Did they say what watt/hour battery it is?

Battery tech hasn't improved in years, like the DF guys said. Is impressive what Nvidia achieved with the Switch 2.

You should know better, in GAF we are not allowed to post any postive threads about Nintendo.

Don't think they did, but its : Switch 2 = 3.78V / 5220mAh / 19.74Wh

Roughtly match for DF's own results at the top

Mario Kart would land 19.9 Wh, Witcher 3 19.8 Wh. Give or take some differences in every bench tests, its pretty spot on.

Ah...yeah, that's where the crazy efficiency is obvious. Impressive compared to other handhelds.

I'm less familiar with Steam deck but as Zathalus Zathalus told me, Steam deck OLED (newer better?) has ~2.6x the capacity over Switch 2. 50Wh.

For all the kicking and screaming over Samsung 8nm, Nvidia made witchcraft here. Ada's power gating for efficiency is a big help I would imagine, different cuda core density than Orin AGX with 22% less area, custom node with Samsung I would imagine too as per usual Nvidia, god knows exactly what they did but the END RESULT is they engineered it to be very efficient.

And the architecture being "wide and slow" is less impacted by node differences. Narrow and fast benefit the most from better node processes.

I don't care about handheld play but seeing it running games better than Steam Deck while lasting around the same or better and having almost the same battery life than OG Switch makes me wonder where the problem lies, some people complain about battery life but it's nothing different than what we already had

My Legion Go S is 55 wh also. I haven't tested it, but ETA Prime says at 15 watts it will last about 2 and a half hours. Switch 2 is about a third the size and gets the same life at half the watt consumption. That's pretty damn good

Remember when the PSP battery along with it's disc drive burning it up was considered bad in 2005....

I had to unsubscribe to their channel bc that rat faced fuck used to eat up my youtube feed. DF does more harm than good with how they play sides.

2 hours and 33 minutes is good to you? Like an abuse girlfriend trying to justify your relationship. I didn't even know it was that bad. Glad I didn't fight to get one.
