DF UPDATE BACKTRACK Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 appears to be using DLSS to upscale from 540p to 1080p with "remarkably" clean image quality

Update 22/04/25] While our initial pixel counts of Street Fighter 6 during the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct reveal pointed to a native 1080p based on limited footage, the more recent Nintendo Treehouse feed shows a scale from a native 960x540 to a 1080p target using an AI upscaling method - with evidence suggesting Nvidia's DLSS based on this footage. Looking back, this 540p upscale appears to be in place in the original Direct footage as well. It's a remarkably clean scale in most shots, with the first few frames following a camera cut being one way to catch the base resolution from its docked mode play. We'll be sure to report back once we have more information.

I'm surprised the scaling slop enthusiasts aren't higher on Switch 2 because of the Nvidia chip. I suspect first party stuff will really show off the goods.

It's a bit disappointing the Switch 2 needs DLSS to hit 1080p. I was hoping 1440p in docked would be achievable with DLSS. It's relying on DLSS to basically match the PS4 version of the game, albeit with better textures.

New DLSS where DF can't even tell 540p to 1080p upscale from native

1080p dlss 3 performance looks really similar to native 1080p taa and in some ways looks better

hair looks better, some textures are a bit blurrier but that wouldn't really be a problem on the switch 2's screen

obviously dlss 4 is on another level. I hope they can make it happen (if they did not already). dlss 4 at 360p would probably look better than dlss 3 at 720p (I didn't compare but I should do it some time).

for example dlss 4 at 540p looks better than dlss 3 at 1080p

anyways DLSS is magic

And yet again...these are LAUNCH TITLES; I can understand the apprehension from the establishment home-locked system suppositories. SUPPORTERS. Stoopid auto-correct. Imagine when 3rd parties actually get COMFY with the hardware.

Don't use a banned source to start a thread.
its all true my friends end image qualities only matters nobody going to cares about internaly
Yes and no. To measure "power" comparatively you'd want native resolutions, otherwise it's not 1:1. When playing, the end result is all that matters.

DF's been consistently reaching new levels of clownery.

There needs to be a complete reset of how they approach making content.

There needs to be a competitor. Something that always rubbed me off the wrong way is their self attributed title of "leading authority on gaming technology and performance", while being actually average in many regards. Sure, it's easy to be the leading authority when there is nobody else doing the stuff they do. But lately have been emerging some alternatives, and all those alternatives are leaps and bound better in the respective things they do, compared to DF. Take the recent Hardware Unboxed DLSS/FSR IQ analyses, BenchmarKing for the optimized settings, NXGamer for the technical stuff.

If your knowledge on certain topics is superficial, then DF is okay, but once you move past a certain threshold, a lot of the stuff they do and say becomes difficult to stomach, especially on the technical side of things. I do enjoy what John does and I like Oliver's approach, very open minded, but yeah.

With DLSS 3 perf and DLSS 4 perf, look at the edges in general, look at the stairs' edges, the lines beneath those 2 robots and the shadows nearby, what do you see?

I mean.. when it looks that clean and outperforming even the XSS.. then yeah? lol.
But we already knew it looked good, the visuals haven't changed. The only difference is we now know it's using DLSS to do it instead of what we previously thought, that the switch 2 has the power to do it natively. It's a very weird flex.

Sure, but then why does this thread exist.
Because Switch 2 using dlss is a very VERY good thing!
Sure, internal resolution is lower but, that doesn't really matter when IQ looks great and the lower resolution enables higher framerates.
Almost all non-1st party games on Switch 1 ran like dogshit.
Even 1st party games had their problems. DLSS takes care of those issues in the best way possible.

But it doesn't?

The XSS version is full of details that aren't in the Switch 2 version. And that's not even considering the fact that the XSS version is working with the texture bug.

Then we're talking about the Switch 2 version in docked mode, which requires DLSS starting at 540p. The question is what it will look like in handheld mode.
