I started a Witch Dr. and after playing the Monk it feels slower... anyone else get that feeling from the two classes?

Can someone explain this to me?
The equipment comparison thing says that I'll get +2.5 damage if I equip this two handed weapon instead of my two fist weapons, but when I actually equip it, my DPS stat goes down on my character info. What's up with that?
Also, how is damage actually calculated for dual wielding versus 2 handed weapons? Do you actually just attack twice as fast with two handed weapons or what? Most of the one handed weapons I've seen have roughly the same DPS as two handed weapons, so it seems like something like a daibo for monks is completely pointless.

Dual wielding just gives you a 15% attack speed bonus, that's it. It alternates between weapons when you attack.

It's the same, but remember that incorporated in that DPS number is also your offhand.
It requires just a little mental math. So for that single slot it's an increase, but you need to count in your offhand manually, whether that be a weapon or stat-giving device.

So if I just look at my damage stat on my character, that's all I need to pay attention to to know if a 2 hander is stronger than dual wielding? Will that stat even take into account stuff like dexterity bonuses and other bonuses on the weapon?

hope so, because that's what i have been doing.
Yeah, it's much easier to just equip the item and check your damage stat (which does calculate DPS) rather than do any kind of mental math. The other primary consideration should be your attack speed, since you need to make a consideration of that based on your resource usage.

It is factored in the stat you see on your character page, which is an indication of your avarage DPS including critical hits.
Yes. However you still need to know what your raw attack speed is; whatever your DPS value is, you need to know how many attacks per second it will cost you to reach that DPS because most attacks cost some amount resource. 10,000 DPS @ 2.0 attack speed will generally spend resource twice as fast as if it were at 1.0 attack speed, but won't generate the same resource twice as fast to compensate.

Hey guys what do you think of my stats? I went through nightmare without too much problem but I'm getting OWNED in the very beginning of Hell making it almost impossible to play.
I don't care what character you're making, I think your biggest amethyst should always go in your helm. +% to Life is just too good to pass up.

Swap Energy Armor for Magic Weapon. Seriously, Magic Weapon is a must have for every Wizard. Energy Armor is hardly necessary at the point you are at.

Whew, just managed to finish up Normal before the servers went down.
My Lvl 32 Barbarian actually had some trouble towards the end, some elite packs and minibosses surprisingly kicked my ass. The last boss was fairly easy though.
I'm trying to stay away from the AH as I don't want to just buy my way to success, I'd rather spend that money on progressing the Artisans, so I'm expecting to run into some trouble in Nightmare mode.
This is a great game though, had lots of fun in my Normal run but most of all I was looking forward to going through it a 2nd time with a bigger challenge and better loot.

I managed to bring my Nephalem Valor bonus up to 5 stacks the first time after hitting LVL 60 right before the servers went down. That was ... well.. lets call it unfortunate.
But having +145% to magic find is neeeat.
So many ways to make this spoiler-free.

Probably Demon Hunter with poison bolas.
Edit - Wait, how big? I guess it could have been a Witch Doctor with one of the locust runes.

at first I was a little hesitant ... a little upset.
"these fools want me to change my ENTIRE build?! Blasphemous!" I then pulled the unique elite 4 pack of exploding aboms ... and died for the 10th time..
so I tried the build... and dear god.. it's really awesome vanishing... reappearing far away, unload, and repeating
thank you so much for this!! The flavour text for that is awesome.
My Monk is at 36 right now in Act 2 Nightmare, and I'm pretty much responsible for keeping my 3 friends alive during elites/champions. Spamming mantra of healing is quite broken, not to mention all the dodging I do. God I love being a monk.

I had this problem with Starcraft 2. Basically look up some stretches for preventing carpal tunnel and do them whenever you feel your wrist starting to hurt

Do follower stats affect me at all? For instance, my Templar's magic find is 1%, and mine is 79%; does his add to mine making it 80%?
Also, I noticed that when I gave him a magic shield, the magic properties didn't apply, on those from the ring I also gave him...I guess this could just be a glitch.
