DICE confirms AI bots are returning in Battlefield 6 to fill empty servers | Won't switch to Unreal Engine 5

i dont have a problem with the bots. They fill up the servers while players are joining. besides, bots do res you up when you are down. unlike medics players....

Battlefield 7 will be a game made by AI for AI to play against itself

I don't really have an issue with bots, and assuming they don't fuck it up the game should be popular enough for games to fill up with real people most of the time.
Though offering a classic server list would still be good.

And thank god they aren't using UE5. I don't want to play battlefield at upscaled 680p and 45fps on Ps5.

Inclusion of dynamic bots was always a neat idea. You could pull their metrics and bullshit the EA executives for future studio funding, which is a perfectly valid business survival strategy, IMO.

Sticking to Frostbite could cost them the studio, though, that was fucking stupid and smells like executive overreach. These days EA are good at getting kids into gambling and that's about it.

Maybe they just didn't have the budget to onboard a bunch of UE SME people, which is a shame.

I hate that this company is so obsessed with bots in their MP games.
It's kind of the reason why Blizzard stopped reporting World of Warcraft player numbers, there's a terminal runaway effect with live service stuff where if enough sheep publicly bolts the whole remaining herd follows, influencers and shit just compounds this effect. Botting is risk mitigation for these guys.

The match just wont start until the server has 16 players.
So those 10 players will sit there doing nothing till 16 players are in the server to make an 8 v 8.........its very possible to sit in the empty server effectively forever as players keep leaving and rejoining so the match never starts.\

Bots filling in the blanks can atleast let the match actually start so anyone who joins stays instead of re-searching for the exact same match delaying the countdown.

When gamemodes die out dem bots will be a godsend, especially if there are mode specific challenges.
I don't think there was such a rule in older games. I remember fighting on huge maps with just a few players. Besides, if they couldn't even fill a 16-player lobby, they probably didn't make a successful game in the first place, so I won't feel bad for missing out.

I agree with the others- If they add a server browser, everyone can see the player count and join accordingly. For those who want to play with bots, there could be offline modes with bots or separate servers for mixed players. Or they can make separate servers for us. My experience with bots in BF 2042 was a disaster. After killing dozens of soldiers who kept spawning in the same spot and jumping into the water the same way, I started wondering if they were all stupid — turns out they were all bots. I lost interest in the game after that. Even the dumbest human opponent is better than a bot.

I don't think its a huge deal to me.

If the game is good and the servers are populated, then no bots.

If the game sucks and the servers are not populated, then Im probably not playing it anyway lol.
