Did any game released in last two years [13-14] take over as your all-time favorite?

Edit: Oops misread, we're just talking about the top game? Then the answer is no so ignore this post.

Using the EU release dates of remakes on systems that I own so YMMV.

New: Spelunky
The challenge, working out how things fit together and perhaps most importantly the the perfectly pitched difficulty curve when it comes to goals. It starts with just getting to the next set of levels being a massive achievement and is followed by unlocking shortcuts, finishing normally, beating it properly and then finally Speedlunky making you re-learn how you play the game. Helped by being a perfect fit on the Vita and the daily challenge.

Persona 4 Golden
Predominately for the most likeable set of characters I've encountered in a game although the rest of it (especially fusing) is pretty good.

Old: Can't really say as my top games used to rotate depending on my mood during any given day but I think my top six are cemented for the time being.
I guess if I had to name titles then Vice City, MGS3, SotC, FF7 and Pokemon Blue have all dropped out of contention for my top 5.

Limiting the scope of this question to genres (since I think it's extremely tough / unfair to judge two games of separate genre / even platform together)....

FPS:

Old favourite: Bad Company 2 – loved the online of Bad Company 2. As a conquest player, it did everything right. The maps were tight and close quarters fighting was there if you wanted it, but there was always the option to move around the map and pick people off individually if you wanted. Snipers weren't overpowered, and camping wasn't a thing thanks to the awesome destructibility. And being in a tank with several others, taking on the world? Awesome. Campaign was meh though.

New favourite: Titanfall – it's just so 'tight'. So well balanced. I love the movement. Again, the map design is superb. I can play the game in so many different ways - I usually go stealthy, wait for the red dots to appear, and hunt them down - but I can just as easily take a sniper and have fun like that (with limited success - I suck with sniper rifles in FPS games). I used to play with a smart pistol, which made me feel like less of a liability. The addition of titans adds a duality to the game, and I really love playing Last Titan Standing with my mates.

Old Favorite: Chrono Trigger
Current Favorite: Chrono Trigger

The only three that have come really really close are in order Chrono Cross, Resident Evil 2 and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney.

I have a bunch of all time favourites that I couldn't possibly separate but I dont think anything has joined that group recently.

Nah, nothing even came near my top ten let alone my number 1, Revelations: Persona. Quite a few made it into my top 50 though.

I can't imagine a game being better than Tetris, so no for now and likely no for the future. Things could change, certainly, but I strongly doubt it.

Everytime Resident Evil 4 is rereleased with better resolution and framerate, it take over my all-time favorite game from before, which was whatever the last version of RE4 was.

Nope my favorite was and still is The Bard's Tale 2: Thief of Fate. Not enough depth and gameplay in all these new AAA games these days for me. Some amazing indies around, but nothing that's taken the top spot.

Journey has taken over my #1 overall. It literally had me playing it over and over again. It "says" so much but never speaks a word throughout its 2 hour Journey. The game really captivated me and I will play it again when it's re-released on PS4.

Old: Earthbound

I love the graphics, the music, the characters, the battle system, the world created by the designers.

New: Dark Souls

I love the graphics, the music, the characters, the battle system, the world created by the designers.

Edit: oops, I'm stupid. Didn't read '13-'14.
So, no.

Favorite game: Dark Souls

I dunno if I could pick an all time favorite... But for arguments sake, I'm probably going to say Zelda: LttP. There is no way with the amount of nostalgia I have for that game, that there could be another game these days that could come close to replacing it. But if there is one, something that maybe someday down the road, I could build nostalgia equal to Zelda, it might be Dark Souls. And I mean Dark Souls as both titles, since they are like my babies, and I can not come to chose one over the other.

That's my take, anywho...

Old: Magic the Gathering (TCG and on PS3)

New: Hearthstone

I prefer HS cause its easier on my wallet, and I think Blizzard is more creative with card mechanics as the rules aren't bound by an existing TCG like Magic.

Merry Xmas!

Hm I don't have one title that is my favourite, there are a bunch of them.

And one title that definitely made it into this group is Dota2.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze came very close, but the best DKC game, Diddy's Kong Quest still reigns supreme as my all time favourite.

nope, that's still a tossup between Mario 64 and Dark Souls, but a few new genre favorites:

Mario Kart 8 - best multiplayer kart racing experience (not best single player or battle mode)

Destiny - best online mulitplayer shooter with matchmaking (still prefer some LAN-focused shooters overall)

Drive Club - best racing game with real cars (probably not even in my top 20 racers in general though)

GTA V PS4 - best open world game

I'll might add those two as well. Doesnt mean the old titles dont hold up well, but newer ones are easier to boot and play nowadays.
