Did Capcom stop shipping RE4 GCN?

My Target and Best Buy don't have them and it's not because they are sold out, it's like they aren't regulary carrying the game or something.

No reason to support a sinking ship anymore, eh? I imagine hired hands got off the Titanic pretty quick too, lad.

Why? The game has been steadily selling 12k+ a month.

With that mentality, Xbox games should also be removed from shelves.

My guess is that they probably sent them back to Nintendo because its going Player's Choice. Happens all the time.

It's probably going Player's Choice now that the PS2 edition is coming soon. Would be a good way to avoid destroying GC version sales completely.

HOW COULD YOU?! </caps>

No seriously, what is your excuse?

My roomate owns it, so we've played through it atleast 4 times. I'm a cheapass, can't be any more blunt than that. I only buy games through sales or price drops. :(

what is weird is I won't see any at Best in multiple visits, then all of a sudden there is either a REmake or RE:4 but like just one copy, then in other visits it's gone.

that is very weird and I wonder whether it's lazy employees, or my particular Best Buy doesn't do a good job re-ordering, or whether they are stopping them temporarily

they've stopped production to make way for the PS2 version. must dedicate all resources to producing PS2 copies to meet demand.

I polled the game geeks at work today. Not a single person had the Gamecube version. All planned to get the PS2 version. I think the numbers are going to stun.

On average, how often do you go into BB to check stock levels on games for companies that you don't work for and don't care about you? I'm trying to determine exactly how pathetic you are.

Hell, I have the GCN version, and I'm picking up the PS2 version next week. I know a lot of people will too. The numbers will be pretty impressive.

This seems like as good a thread as any. I haven't really paid attention to anything RE4 (don't care for the series), but what I have read suggests that this is a pretty big departure from the other games. So what's this game like, and what makes it so different? Better controls? More action? Less puzzles?

As nice as that would be, since they didn't redo the cutscenes using PS2's engine, they probably wouldn't bother reworking the extras on GC. I think.

It barely has anything to do with the old games. The game is completely different. The controls are far superior and the angle is different too. It's fully 3D and very very fun. It's WAY better than the old RE games and quite possibly the best game this gen.

Wouldn't it be funny if they released a GC version with all the new content from the PS2 version? :)

They actually did that with Code Veronica Complete for DC, so it's not unprecedented.

Like someone else mentioned, the game has little to do with the RE games of old, aside from the main character and the title. Puzzles aren't a big focus anymore, and the game is pure action and set pieces. It's pretty long, too (20 hours at least), and the Mercenaries mini-game is even more action focused. The game's only real flaw is that it feels like a shooting gallery game at times, since you can't move and shoot.

I'm picking up the PS2 version for all the extras, unless they announce a Gamecube uber-version, like, today.

This is Capcom we're talking about! They're hands-down the worst offenders of milking a license in the world. I mean, 100 Mega Man games? 50 Street Fighters? Special editions of special editions, and so on.

And now, the one time I'd really like to see a re-re-release, I'm betting they won't do it.

Wouldn't it be even funnier if they announced that version right when the PS2 one goes on sale? No wait would they even think about doing something that stupid.... oh wait.

Well, it wouldn't be too difficult as they would just be reusing the engine and models, they also wouldn't have much competition as GC has basically nothing coming out next year until Zelda. But I highly doubt it.
