Did DC ever explain why Kryptonians look so human like?

I know Marvel has some theory about humanoid shapes in terms of sentient beings preferred morphology. I forget exactly what it was. How does DC explain this?

I don't see why this would need explaining.

and yet Kryptonians look like humans. It is strange but hardly confusing why they would design Superman to look human. They want people to relate to him while still having the alien backstory to draw on.

Or why a glowing green rock from your planet can kill you.

Lead can kill Daxamites who are descendants of Kryptonians. :o

That's what brought the question. I'm not a DC guy, but seeing the GL Corp in the movie, yeah it sucked, but it was entertaining and on HBO so I caught it, and seeing the varied morphology across the galaxies was pretty cool.

Here's a question. The Kryptonians were obviously very advanced, they could send their children across the universe to another planet when the shit hit the fan. How did they not have multiple other planets colonized? Even if Krypton blew up shouldn't there haven been thousands, if not millions, of other Kryptonians out in the galaxy?

probably because they evolved from Ape like creatures? ;)
Doomsday is also from Krypton and his DNA was mixed with the local wildlife of 250,000 years ago.

This.
Who cares? Seriously. Just enjoy it.

I know this. But I also know DC has provided explanations for other stuff and as Marvel, via retcons and the like.

I remember when Marvel tried explaining Spidey's power because of the ancient Spider god lol.

I believe they did. Daxamites are their descendants. but they did this all a VERY long time ago. so a lot of civilizations maybe were wiped out, who knows.

Maybe the other kryptonians happen to be isolationists. Maybe the space program got canceled.

I thought they were humans but just on a different planet under a very different sun thus changing their inner molecular body workings to the point they're superior to humans.

The same reason every alien in Star Trek is human but with different ridges on their forehead.

It means that every sentient being at their core will evolve the same way. The reason why they look different on the appearance level is due to the unique environment each species evolved in. That's why I love Star Trek.

Ding ding. And to answer the inevitable question, "Why didn't Jor-El just send Kal-El to Daxam since it's much closer?", well, the real answer is that there was no Daxam for the original origin. Later on, as we learn of Daxam and its proximity to Krypton, it wouldn't make sense to send Kal-El there. Daxamites are notoriously xenophobic, and likely would've killed Kal-El after finding out he wasn't native. And since Kal wouldn't have had the benefits of a yellow sun, he'd be fairly easy to pick off.

Grant Morrison is one of my favorite people in comics. Love the guy.

I love his idea that being optimistic is a lot more counter culture than being pessimistic.

The Little Mermaid isn't set in an almost realistic setting, unlike say... Batman.

Batman exists in a world with human looking aliens, imaginary cities, and time traveling bullets. There's nothing realistic about it.

This. Batman's involvement in the JLA means that batman has seen some SHIT. the DC universe is actually far, far LESS realistic than the little mermaid- hell, it HAS the underwater kingdom of atlantis, complete with talking fish people if you really want to get nitpicky.

I thought that was captain america

it was both, and nearly at the same time, too.

Spoilers...maybe? Read at own risk.
Most recently, the Batman Family has been put to the test during the events of "Batman R.I.P.," "Final Crisis," and lastly "Battle for the Cowl." After Bruce Wayne's struggle against the Black Glove which nearly cost him his life during "Batman R.I.P.," Batman found himself being used to create an army of super soldiers to help Darkseid take over New Earth in "Final Crisis." However, Batman was able to use his own memories to destroy a machine that was built to clone his likeness into a slew of identical Bat-Soldiers. Batman then tells Darkseid he will make a "once in a lifetime exception" and shoots Darkseid with the time-traveling bullet that killed Orion, leaving Darkseid mortally wounded.

Guess he razzles Darkseid with a time-travelling bullet. Crazy.

I think the Nolaverse has redefined people's expectations of the Batman universe, for better or worse lol.
