I love racing my gas-powered RC and i find racing wheels to be inconvenient because I don't have a table set-up. Anyone know if they ever made something like "this" for the PC???

Yeah, I have one of these although I don't use it often, worked very well for most racing games. Unfortunately, I forgot the brand/model so not sure I can help right now.
