Digital Devil Saga help needed!

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
I just got to the top of the tower and am fighting Angel. His first form is no problem but when he transforms into that really big thing I cant kill it, hell I cant even do much deamage to it at all. As soion as it has its go Im pretty much screwed straight away. I have no clue what to do with this guy at all, so can someone please tell me how to kill it?

On a side note, does anyone actually understand the story of this game?

IIRC, you have to take out the colored gems (? colored something, anyway, it's been a while ;) ) which give her various elemental protections. Then before she regenerates them, you can attack with her with that element. I did it a long, tedious method, focusing my attacks on the ice gem and then having Serph hit her with Bufudyne while her ice shield was done.

But I know there's better strategies out there. I think one of them uses some physical attack that hits everyone? I remember reading about it but I don't remember the details ;). I'm assuming you could also use Almighty attacks if you've got any...

I realize that's probably all too vague to be helpful, but I played it back when it came out (in the spring) and don't remember exact strategies =(

edit: As for the story, there isn't much ;). Seemed mostly like a big set-up / tease for Part 2, to me. Hope something happens for real in that one :)

My normal attack isnt strong enough to kill the gems, but if I use a move like exocutioner on it then it should go away. Almighty attacks would work, but the problem is that one of the gems or even Angel himself is shielded to physical attacks (I think), but Ill give it a shot. its going to take a very long time to kill it like that though, but I just want to get it done! Thanks a lot Greenpanda, that should hopefully end some frustrations. I never had any probalem with any of the other bosses in the game apart from the first one in the karma temple that does that really annoying ice move, but the rest have been fine.

Also, if my memory serves me properly, the gems don't heal themselves between turns ... so you can wait to finish off the gem until your other characters are ready to attack Angel. (This also means you don't need to be able to take the gem out in one round, should that be a problem.)

edit: Again, sorry I'm dumb for not remembering, but is there a gem that protects her from physical attacks? I think one strategy (someone else's, not mind) is to take out that gem, then you can use attack-all physical attacks to hit Angel and all the gems, so she'll have to keep regenerating them.

Equip at least two characters with All Attack. It's been a while, so I believe she has one orb that nulls physical attacks (the gold one?) but you can take that out with one or two quick elemental magic attacks and then safely use All Attack to take out the rest of her orbs and open Angel up to all sorts of elemental attacks. She'll spend her turns creating orbs that you will quickly wipe out with All Attack. Incessantly pound her with Elemental magic attacks she hasn't created an orb against and you'll make short work of her.

Having Null Element helps alot, you can learn that skill by mastering a characters elemental path, unlocking Dark Leader, and then Dark God which teaches Null Element or you could learn every elemental path for a character and open up the Monotheist Mantra which teaches you Null Attack.

Equip AP Divide, Atma Bonus, Iron Stomach and Insatiable to plough through learning new Mantra's while level up grinding in one of the optional dungeons or the Karma Tower itself.

Angel is a cake walk compared to some of the optional bosses hidden in the game.

As to the plot, I don't want to discuss without without using spoiler tags, this forum have them?

Okay, so I think it's fairly evident that the Junkyard itself is a simulation, especially near the end when you've climbed the Karma Tower and Angel is rebooting the world. To what end the simualtion serves no one but Angel And Col. Beck truely know, we'll find out in the intro of DDS2. Precisely why Sera is so important to Angel is yet another mystery, what was it they called her? A digital or cyber shaman?

It's a simulation that's apparently been played out time and again going by one of Beck's remarks to Argilla right before you battle him in the Brutes headquarters in Anja. I think it was something along the lines of "You were the first to be devoured".

There are no children in the Junkyard, there is no ocean in the Junkyard, yet as the game progresses you see members of the Embryon recall precisely what these things are without truely knowing what they are. Even emotions are alien concepts to the participants of this simulation before they awaken. Gale was the last to awaken, you know when the character goes from having grey pupil-less eyesto having colored iris' and a pupil, to these concepts, he remained perpetual confused by the changes in his clanmates althroughout the game until that battle with the Lupos (or whatever) leader. Familiar landmarks from the real world are peppered throughout the game tugging at the characters memories. The Brutes headquarters in Anja, Coordinate 136, the boat that the Embryon use to trap the Brutes in.

I'm half hammered and kind of rambling, but really the ending to Digital Devil Saga only providesmore questions than answers. I wanna know why the simulation existed, who Serph, Argilla, Heat, Cielo, Angel, Gale, Varin, Sera et all are in the real world. Angel seems to know who Gale is, Varin didn't, but he apparently knew who Serph and Argilla were. Why is the real world an even more hellish wasteland? Why is it that people can transform into demons not only in the Junkyard but in the real world? What purpose did that simulation serve? All I know is I can't fucking wait for DDS2 to be released at the end of this month.

I did it :D ! I had to get a few more mantra's before I could do it though, Serph needed to get all attack and Argilla needed more elemental magic. I didnt get null element because it would have taken me far too long and I didnt have the money, but I realised that i didnt need it. After reading the advice I eased through it, it was actually quite easy but it took quite a long time, It took me just more than half an hour to kill it but Im very happy now that Ive completed it and i cant wait for 27th Spetember because DDS2 comes out :D
