Disciples II: Dark Prophecy DS screenies

When is Disciples 2 coming out? I wanted to play that game so much on PC but got distracted by other games :(

I know I would play this one on the road.

This is SO awesome! Hope they can somehow fit the Elves campaign in there, never did try it out.

Yea, I'm starting to think I should never buy a PC game again until the Gold or Platinum box releases. That is a lot of Disciples, never did get the two pseudo-expansions either.

Looks nice, but I have no idea what the game's about.

Turn based strategy game, somewhat reminiscent of Heroes of Might and Magic, only with smaller more focused armies.

I played all Disciples 2 expansion packs. and if this is anything like the PC version I guess I'll have to buy a damn DS. I feel dirty but D2 makes it feel so right :D

It took me like 100+ hours to finish all the campaigns in the original D2, hopefully this is the full game with added features.

Looks awesome.

Good game for those who cut their teeth on Advance Wars and are looking for something with a bit more meat to it.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! DISCIPLES 2 ON DS??!??!?

Fuck, now I really need a DS.

EDIT: I hope the music doesn't get downgraded, I love the battle musics.

Wow, I'm definitely buying this. I never played regular Disciples II but if it's really like Heroes of Might and Magic than I'm sold.

Wow, I love this game. This would make the 2 hours between Political Science and History fly by. Whats the release date?

It really is about time that PC devs recognize how mind-numbingly perfect the DS is for on the go strategy romps.

'Cause if a recent Nintendo portable needs anything it's another turn-based strategy game.

RTS, please!

Great graphics, though. I'd love to see more of that.

Not just any turn-based strategy game. One of the best ever made.

I never really thought the DS would have a game that could single-handedly make me get a DS, but here it is.

PocketStudios seem to love the DS.

You know what would be sweet for Strategy gamers? Civilization III and Alpha Centauri DS.
Get to work Sid.

...I don't get it...

He's reflecting on the injustice that while the NDS is capable of power 2D like that shown in Disciples II, we still get stuff like Lunar DS.

(edit: And while we're making requests, could some fan out there please get to work on a quick and dirty port of Herzog Zwei for the NDS with a little touch screen control and wifi thrown in? Please?)

Most Japanese 2D developers have been struck in the anime/late 16 bit generation. With a few notable exceptions, most 2-D games out of Japan look dated. It had nothing to do with game design and everything to do with a lack of vision and the fact that Japan simply stopped taking 2D seriously outside of a few dev houses. There's plenty of 2D games coming out of Japan to be sure, but its basically the same engine being recyled over and over again. It's just a huge cash cow for the devs.

Some of the best 2D work I've seen comes from the US/Europe PC devs which continue to use 2D extensively until recently and will probably continue to use 2D engines for PC games in the future.

I think you're wrong. I think the real answer is much more simple.

Lazy ass developers who don't give a crap. Pokemon looks like crap because will sell anyway. Plain and simple.

There are developers that do care. Camelot cares. Square Enix cares. Brownie Brown cares.

The rest just don't give a crap.

Where's the PR? :o
It will come when they officially announce it.

A source inside firaxis says they are very excited about DS and plan to develop for it. AC and CIV seem like natural choices.

o_O wonder how that will look. Civ 3 on the go? Yes, please. If it's wifi enabled, I'll bust a nut.

...that's hillarious to you guys? There are always going to be lazy developers and bad art. I just didn't get why it was so funny and why he picked that screen in particular. Thought it might have been an in-joke.

Anyway, back on topic. I'm excited. Hopefully, it doesn't lag too much.

Good God...

I usually stay away from strategy games on handheld systems... but Civ is like digital crack for me. It's just so damn awesome that a Civ game on the DS would be the end of my productivity.

I'm holding you to this. :) It better be true.

You work for Firaxis or are you just pulling my strings?
No, I do not.

I know someone who does. I am not playing Insider, I could not tell you anything about anything, but I know this 'news' to be true.

wonder how that will look.

Look at the AOEII videos. The game is now a turnbased game, and the top screen shows city/unit info when you hover above a city/unit.

If its true then my planned DS purchase this fall is going to be more worthwhile than I ever imagined.
