Disciples II: Dark Prophecy DS screenies

Wow, I'm definitely buying this. I never played regular Disciples II but if it's really like Heroes of Might and Magic than I'm sold.

I never played it either but if its half as good as Heroes of Might and Magic III then I'll buy it at launch.

Looks excellent. A friend of mine highly recommended the series to me, and basically said that he would buy a DS for it, so I'm sold on it.

Goddamnit, I'm supposed to save up for the DS redesign. Nevertheless, I'm strong, so unless another game like this is announced (please god no), I'm going to hold off on a DS purchase.

*hugs his broken GBA: SP*

No, I do not.

I know someone who does. I am not playing Insider, I could not tell you anything about anything, but I know this 'news' to be true.

Keep in mind that they don't own the civ IP, Take 2 does. Not saying this won't happen eventually (a Korean Dev made a civ mobile port last year), but it's not a lock that firaxis would develop it. But, it was posted on their site that they are very interested in the DS.

Disciples II
Advance Wars
Jagged Alliance II Gold
Europa Universalis II
Heroes
+more TBS Goodness

On the bus, on the couch, in the backyard.

I'm in! (Now all I need is a Black DS.)

Take2 and its 2k games label would be looking for games for the portables so its very possible.

It will come when they officially announce it.

A source inside firaxis says they are very excited about DS and plan to develop for it. AC and CIV seem like natural choices.

What source?!?! Sid Meier himself said he's interested in the DS on their letters page.

Question: Do you have any plans to develop for the NintendoDS? Firaxis' strategy games are a natural match for the dual screen, touchscreen enabled handheld. Other strategy games such as Europe Universalis II, Age of Empires, and Command and Conquer have been announced. Civilization and/or Alpha Centuari would fit in nice.

Sid: It's certainly something we're exploring. Our goal is to make great games and deliver them to players on whatever platforms make sense for the game. I agree that the Nintendo DS would be a good match for some of our titlesÂ…so stay tuned for more info. soon!

um, guys, these are concept pictures...

Hehe, took long enough for someone to notice.

They cut and pasted PC screens

To be fair they did a little more than that. There is no reason why the final product wont look that way with the exception of the font on the top screen being altered. The top screen is pretty much static bar the red filling up as your units taking damage, there is no actual animation on that screen. The bottom screen is where all the action is at, all they got to do is put aa'ed bmp's or whatever in. Now as far as the video goes, i dont think that the ds cartridges have enough space to fill in all the fmv pf the pc version.

Havn't played diciples, but i was a huge Age of Wonders fan, owned 1 & 2.
I'd love to see something like that, the battle system in AoW was awesome, the defence and besieging of citites, and the interaction with the terrain and global spells.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Magic the Gathering could be a killer ds game. Dload new cards at kiosks, wifi play etc, easy and cheap to develop.

good idea actually, I'd jump on this if I was a CEO of whoever owns that license

anyway, DS is going bonker future release wise, my handheld gaming time will increase ten-fold. In fact, most of my most anticipated releases for this year are on handhelds.

weird how things change

Now Pocket PC Studios released first real screens. The first ones were just moke-up for imagination.

I think the graphics look good, but everything is a bit small. The PC-version was a quite good game. Hope the remake for the Nintendo DS will have at least the same quality.

Damn, this look virtually identical to PC version (on a small screen).

I really liked Disciples.

Looking hawt!

This is a strategy RPG right?

Humm.. I would be awesome if an original Age of Wonder game was developed for the DS.

DS is strategy heaven. Great stuff.

I would go nuts for an alpha centauri or age of wonders game on DS..this will be awesome too.

I misread it as "Disgaea II: Dark Prophecy DS screens".

Damn my lying eyes!

This game looks decent enough, though.

:(

HEATHEN, YOU FUCKING HEATHEN! >_<

Woah, imagine if that would be true :)
Disgaea 2 is already coming out for PS2 for your information, some japanese site already up
By the way the "new" screens are VERY cool, the bottom screen is yust like hte PC version
hopefully they'll change the top one a bit, its rather ugly. My guess is it'll be walled with some art in the back, good.

I'll actually have to pick this up. I loved the PC version and all of the expansions.

Now if Strategy First released Age of Wonder: Shadow Magic or (gasp) Kohan: Ahriman's Gift, I would totally shit myself for the DS.

Looks damn great. I'm looking forward to this title as well as Jagged Alliance DS. Never played the PC version of either Disciples, so not sure exactly what's this all about though, but I liked Heroes of Might & Magics, and it seems to be somewhat similar.

SuomiDude: don't expect too complex gameplay from Disciples, if you're a "hardcore" Heroes of MM fan you might get a little bit disappointed when playing Disciples. But it's a brilliant game nontheless.

Nah, shouldn't be a problem. I'm not a hardcore HOMM fan (only really played HOMM2, a bit of HOMM3), I'm not even really a big strategy game fan in general, so I'm just glad if it isn't too complex stuff. (Though I don't think HOMMs are complex at all either.)

Wow, and I thought for sure that all PPCS DS games were canceled, great to see the games are still coming out. :D

It's less complex, but certainly not less strategic. The nice thing is that you can take the same hero through the campaign maps, so you have an oppurtunity to build him up and get him sweet items.

Looking good, DS turning into a strategy games powerhouse. Now IS bring me FE!

hm, where is promised Jagged Alliance DS?

It's still coming. I asked the PPCStudios guy about it and he said it's still coming, but he can't give any more news until Strategy First gives him a permission.

The DS needs more of this Western-centric content, NOA should publish some of these types of titles to make sure they get decent retail stocking.

I can't wait for Disciples but sadly it just helps to show what types of games we could be getting on the DS from the west instead of the crap that gets green lighted everyday. Nintendo needs to make a deal to get Baulders Gate on the DS and not that Dark Alliance crap the real series. Since the action can be paused with the push of a button I think it would make an excellent fit. Good to hear Jagged Alliance is still coming.
