Release date: October 9th 2012

Dev: Arkane Studios
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Genre: Stealth/Action
You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you, abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

If you want to know the story of the game, here.

Gameplay trailer had too many quick cuts, needs to show people this is a stealth action game and not just a stabbing simulator.

I wasn't impressed with the trailer but much like with Deus Ex HR I know these types of games need demos or very long gameplay trailers to showcase the genre's strengths. 3 minute clips of random stuff isn't going to sell it well.

There is a very good reason why this remains on my list, when most other blockbuster titles fell off.

Evokes both Half Life 2 in environment and Bioshock in terms of character style and perhaps gameplay. I love the boldness of the environments (Antonov's involvement is super) and the whole thing seems very dark in places. I'm super excited. Choice of song was cool but didn't feel like the editing really made the most of it.

Can't wait to get an extended Levine like voice over gameplay demo!

I'm underwhelmed, honestly. Just a bunch of slo-mo melee kills with the same Gears Madworld marketing we've been getting since 2006. I think this is one where I'll need a gameplay demonstration to pull me in.

Doesn't look very impressive. I'm failing to see the benefits of 1st person; I guess it allows dual-wielding.

As mentioned earlier, need uncut gameplay footage. Definitely still on my radar.

One benefit will be the first person melee system. These guys made the game with the best ever first person melee and that came out like 6 years ago and still hasn't been topped. The other half of the group is from the Deus Ex games (yes even the one we shall not speak of) which were first person exploration so they also know what they're doing there.

Dark Messiah though had a problem with melee that it wasn't always easy to gauge distance and you're whiff when it looks like you shouldn't, from your limited pov. I really hope they fixed that because it was a big negative to the first person view.

Ah. Sort of a design signature. Fair enough.

hmm well considering this team is the only one who ever nailed first person melee combat, I feel cautiously optimistic in this steam punk half life game :)

I didn't realize it was going to be so gruesome and violent. I was curiously interested before, but not anymore. I just can't stomach too much gratuitous, graphic violence in games. It can be actually pretty disturbing to me at a point.

I really like the look of this game. I hope it turns out even half as good as that trailer. I think this game has a shot at being a breakout later this year and will benefit from a lot of games moving to 2013.

With all the delays and no-shows (namely BioInf and Half-Life 3 respectively), this is gradually becoming my most-anticipated title of the year.

One of the few games I'm really looking forward to. Would like to see an uninterrupted gameplay footage of a stealth player. And I really hope the PC version is given some care. Bethesda's release history isn't reassuring, with even an id game having issues.

Was really disappointed with this trailer. It was all just dudes getting stabbed, not really showing anything about the game. There were people in the GTTV thread even asking what the game was about/like lol. Not too great for a gameplay trailer to leave people clueless about the game.

I'm still Day ZERO on this game, but they really need a nice long demo walkthrough at E3.

Too much "early" and not enough "earl-lie."

I have NFC what this game is about or what was going on in the trailer.. there doesn't seem to be a remotely cohesive story. Gameplay looked a LOT like Bioshock though which can only be a good thing.

This game will have such great impact and success exactly how Bioshock got it for the first time when it was shown by amazing the gamers. I can't belive I'm actually witness such moment again in such short time. This is how great games are built.

The rat devour thing is just crazy-amazing idea; Meat and bones.

Prolly one of the very few games I will buy the coming Holiday season. Very promising after watching that trailer.

that did nothing for me. i still have no idea what is going on in this game.
I just saw a bunch of people get assassinated in slow-mo? it that it?
