The game looks pretty interesting. At the moment I don't think the art style is enough to detract from how bad it looks technically though. From that trailer it just about passes for a 360/PS3 game.

I guess it looks OK. Just a mishmash or stabbing and Bioshock magic powers with a creepy singsong soundtrack. Hard to tell anything.

Engine looks dated.

this game went from hmm looks cool (first hearing about it)

to finding out valve devs are working on it made me go... ooo :O

and after the gameplay trailer it is now on my top 3 most hyped of '12

anyone know if it'll be on steam?

iirc I remember seeing gfwl

Deus Ex-type games always have sub par graphics for their time. They have a lot more important things to focus on like level design. If that is sub par the game will be terrible, everything hinges on great level design with these games.

edit: It will be steamworks. Bethesda games are almost always steamworks now. Also I don't know anything about valve working on this, maybe the studio has ex valve employees but it's published by Bethesda and worked on by dark messiah and deus ex people.

I'm really interested in this game... but the trailer didn't really do much for me, unfortunately. I want to see how open the game really is. This didn't show that at all.

So it's basically like an HD version of Thief?.

why it should be a copy of something?

no, it's not an HD version of Thief. It is a game of its own but it has Thief heritage. Also System Shock heritage. Deus Ex heritage. Arx Fatalis heritage. Dark Messiah heritage.

That's a pretty interesting thing you picked up there. Never thought about that. I wonder if level design is so budget-heavy that they end cutting budget on other departments or if the design ambition of Immersive Sims is simply opposed to actually having a budget.

Should be on the box, 5 million sold right there.

It's pretty tough to have a truly classic and all time great level design and probably requires a ton of time to get it right. I'm sure there's other reasons as well for lower graphics like lower budgets, less graphical experience, sacrifices for having so many choices to do objectives.

I don't think actual level design is expensive but doing it right is so important, nothing has matched the original Deus Ex which had years worth of hidden areas/events and side paths. Even Human Revolution, as good as it was, couldn't match it but it had good enough design to still be a great game.

Remember how Deus Ex 2 was gimped because the original xbox couldn't handle large levels? I'm guessing (hoping) it has something to with that in Dishonored.

Also Arkane never really made any stunner: Arx Fatalis was pretty minimalistic and Dark Messiah had that early Source-based game to it. Still, I do hope the great art syle and designs will make up for it.
