Disney insiders continue to deny those whispers. Yet in the age of coronavirus, nothing is being considered — until it is. Sources at Disney disputed reports that Pixar’s “Soul” would premiere on Disney Plus, only to announce a month later that “Soul” would open on Disney Plus.

Again, I hope they just delay it.
There is no need to release it on Disney+. Their subscription base won't increase by 20 million accounts or however many are required to equal their potential box office gains, they'd just lose money. WW84 kind of proves this.

If they can charge $30 extra for it then why not? Just 10 million buys and they are in the black on it. D+ is killing their own rental/dvd sales market (unless they start rotating stuff back into the vault) so they really have no reason to hold out for a pure theatrical release since everyone will just expect it on D+ in 4 months anyway.

No way this thing gets anywhere NEAR late MCU films BO, it would be a mid 200 to 300 mill max. So D+ is the best place for it (and I'll wait for it to be included regardless).

In aus the cinemas are still open with reduced capacities but are ghost towns as nobody wants covid
WW1984 got a VOD and Cinema release in US and UK but over here they still went with the plain cinema release....you can guess where most people chose to watch WW1984

Regardless of what you think about WW1984 and paying for that crap movie I think the days of Cinema are over...the quicker they adapt to VOD model and treat cinemas as an experience like a drive through the better imo

The cinemas aren't that empty in Oz. When I saw WW84 the cinema I was almost to capacity. When I say capacity, I mean less than half the amount than a regular movie gets due to the social distancing set up they have.

I'll be very honest, I hope the movie is delayed. Piracy will prevail when people can get high quality material for free. Ultimately the revenue would decrease and they would crackdown on piracy and make it harder for people to pirate.

They just made the next lockdown in Germany for another 30 days. Same rules than before. Nothing changing. They will act like they are surprised as soon as Corona is still there end of april.

The only good thing about Corona....everyone finally understands how bad the political situation in Germany is since 10 years lol
