anyone tried encoding with it?
Specifically, if anyone tries Premiere Pro it'd be great to know if it's any better. I'm having to export to uncompressed AVIs (huge) and then compress with other programs. >:_(

What the hell! No version for OS X. I'm pissed that Divx messed shit up in Tiger. It's been almost two months, where is the Tiger version?!

Jesus H. Christ, you just got Intel's support, be patient and stop your crying.

Wonder if 6 fixes that bug where Divx hijacks all Xvid files as well. Had to uninstall whatever the latest 5 version was because of this. Xvid would decode all my divx files alright but vice versa wasn't the case, got to be pretty annoying.

I've encoded dozens of movies with DIVX but have been out of the loop for a while. Can someone explain to a n00b like myself why XVID is better?

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated

XVID is completely free, open source, has less overhead and works just as well, if not better.

Divx is easier to use via Dr. Divx. Other than that, Xvid is the superior codec. The results from compression are usually closer to the source than what you get with divx.

Arent they essentially the same thing?

They're both Mpeg4 codecs but different techniques to achieve that same standard.

you dont get that annoying as fuck 'DIVX' watermark with XVID

You can turn it off in the decoder settings iirc. Or you can use ffdshow for the decoding.

Go to doom9's forums. Xvid is superior to divx5. I haven't got a clue for the new version though.
