After driving 70 miles for a cancelled field trip, I hopped into Wal-Mart and saw a shopping cart full of DKJB with bongos on special for $35.00.

I have no idea if it's just my store, or a special for all the Wal-Marts, but I'm guessing that's a good price to get the thing at.

I also have no idea what the regular price is for this, I'm thinking like $60+ or something.
If it's regularly 40 bucks, nevermind then.

They also had a bunch of random assorted PS2/Xbox/GC games, but they were all mostly crap (except maybe Soul Calibur 2).

Are you sure it wasn't just the bongos for $35? That's the normal price for bongos I think, and the boxes do look similar. Wm.com still has the set listed as $54

The yellow printout paper in front of the shopping cart stated 'Donkey Kong Jungle Beat with Bongos', as did the boxes.

It said it was a Wal-Mart Special, but I have no idea if that's for particular stores only, or for all stores.

If you can't find that deal in your area...

1) Go to GameStop and get their advertising magazine thing.

2) Locate the "DKJB w/ Bongos for $39.99" ad.

3) Listen to the GameStop employee tell you that it is a misprint.

4) Head to Walmart and price match it.

Side note: Toys R Us has stopped price matching. So much for buying stuff from them.

Just hope that the store price matching the one with the miss print doesn't call the other to verify though. Best Buy did this and I lost out on a damn good DVD recorder for cheap because they called Circuit City to verify,Circuit City killed my potential sweet haul because of this

Blah, I hate how Walmart sales are regional/per-store. I decided to head in to check before the weekend crowd hit the store, found one at the back of the case, and after several minutes of the clerk trying to find who had the keys, it scanned up at full price.

Walmart's annoying like that, you hear about these great sales and discounts, then find out it's only three stores in Kansas or something.

Red Scarlet, where was the Walmart you hit that you saw this deal in?

WHY? I bought some bongos on ebay for 20 bucks, and then I just found out that they decreased the MSRP to $20.

This game makes a better arcade game than a home game. $35 is steep. They should set it up for 50-cent plays in an arcade.

It also makes a better arcade game because the controllers can be bolted and stationary at an arcade.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up. I'm going to check my local Walmart to see if they have a similar deal (perhaps not but worth checking nonetheless IMHO). I was waiting for a deal of this type (though admittedly I'd be willing to pay for a reduced price of $49 DKJB + bongos).
