I haven't listened to hip hop in many years, but I used to own several of his albums when I did. I may actually still have them in storage somewhere. RIP.

Really fucking sad to hear this. DMX was a big part of my teens and early 20s. Slippin, Ruff riders anthem, go to sleep, x gon give it to ya, get it on the floor. All classics. His beef with Kurupt was entertaining too.

I guess DMX finally is

RIP to a true legend.

Damn. Rest in peace, X. Listened through "Flesh of my Flesh..." and "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" more times than I can count.

Good times rapping along to this as a kid like it was relatable, when in fact, I had zero bitches.

Rip DMX. This will be one of those trivia questions in the future when people discuss which celebrities passed on the same day.

RIP to one hell of a personality.

I hope he did, indeed, go all out in the end.

Dude wasn’t the greatest man but he’s been struggling with demons for a long time. He did seem like he had a good side in him that he wasn’t able to hold on to. Hard for us to say what it’s like to being at the top to almost completely forgotten in a couple years. RIP.

He was in and out of prison before, during and after his rise to fame. It might be foolish, but he's one of the few rappers that I believed the verses he was spitting were authentic and autobiographical which always resonated with me. He wasn't rapping about that lifestyle because it was the popular trend, he was rapping about it because it was his life experience.

R.I.P to a legend. This one is a hard one. DMX is one of those artist that is very truthful about their issues and because of that many people connected to him different then other rap artist. He wasn't perfect, but never faked that he was. I gained more respect for him with his talks with Dr. Phil as its really, really hard to talk about that stuff coming from the black community because its seen like "airing out your laundry" type thing, like you are not suppose to talk about issues, but he sparked lots of conversation about people in the hip hop community and more specifically the African American community that have drug problems, but keep it in the dark. People already dog on Drake for being fake, yet shit on DMX because of all of his issues, but I feel THAT really is what goes on in America with addiction.

I'm not saying be like X, but I think maybe we can learn to be as honest and humble as him. Its never easy to say you have a problem and in the black community, that shit is 3x hard. I've heard it first hand, people will literally talk bad about you if you say you have an issue and need help. They'll say shit like "he making us look bad" or "his parents raised him good and now he making it look like the did something wrong" or "go to church, everyone doesn't need to know OUR business" etc. That shit is poison and keeps people scared to actually open up and get help.

Men in America have this issue because of that stigma. If people don't like fake rappers, embrace the real ones that are open enough to show you they are not perfect and have issues in the first place, its why I never hated Cardi B. She is annoying, in your face, loud.....that is what many women are like though, why fake it? Why pretend they are above people or need to act this way or that way? I'd rather someone be real with who they are and disagree with their life choices, then agree with fake people. People wanted real? They can't even accept what REAL actually is. Real definitely isn't perfect. Enough of the doom and gloom.

My favorite DMX film will forever be Belly, I like Nas in it, but DMX came off as such a real character, it felt like he was just talking about is actual life lol
Never forget DMX released 2 albums in 1 year that went platinum several times lol. His first 5 albums all went platinum several times over, a rare talent indeed.

One of the pillars of 90's rap, a time where rappers had their own unique sound, DMX will be remembered as one of the most wildest.

That a great post EDMIX EDMIX . One final thought and I'll shut up. I always said that DMX was a guy you'd never want to fuck with but if I ever had a chance to meet him, I'd probably just want to give him a hug. I guess that opportunity has passed in this life but hopefully in the next.

Drinking rum all night and listening to DMX on Spotify. Miss him so much. I've been into hip-hop since 2000 so It's a big loss.

Sad to hear this. Slippin is my favorite song of all time. Its dark and he'll is hot is in my top 5 albums. Flesh of my flesh is definitely top 10. Not a bad song on either. Sadly, I always thought he would go out in a situation similar to this. Even then it still shocked me to hear.

Oh well. No sympathy for people who die from drug overdoses. Too many people die from forces outside their control. When one does it to themselves then fuck them! Plus I just read he murdered dogs and had animal cruelty charges against him.
