Okay so I"m out drinking with my 'friend', as I'm sure part of het board is well aquainted with by now. So whe tellls me that she has a plan to get me laid. There's a local school thta has 18+ girls that are from other countires, many from Japan, Korea etc, and there's a program where you sign up and become some kind of 'conversation buddy' wtih one of them, and you cna choose the gender etc. Anyways, is it really true that japenese girls have a thing for american guys? I'm serious about this.....my friend has told me about this in the past, but what the fuck good does it do me fi I"m half way across the fuckin world? SO anyways, there's this local foriegnt exchange school or whatever. Is it really true that japanese girls have a real thing for americicna guys? That they find guys with typicla americna look "cute"? She says it's a pretty sure-fire way to getting laid, and if the gir I'm assigne disn't cute, she'll probably have cute friends, etc.

That's actually true. There is a general trend where Japanese woman will prefer an American man over a Japanese counterpart because they feel they're less restricted by gender roles with an American.


I think that means they prefer professional/successful American men. Not japanophile geek boys. Why would they pick an American that wants to be Japanese when they live in a country filled with actual Japanese guys?

I had a teacher who was from Japan who used to always joke about liking American men over Japanese men but I don't know how serious she was or if she really meant what she said. I can't even remember the circumstances that brought about the topic. She used to say things like, "Japanese men are too effeminate for me," among other things. The fact of the matter was that she was/is married to an American man. I also know quite a few Japanese/Asian girls (international students) but I've never heard any sort of official stance on the issue. Maybe I'll bring it up with them the next time I see them. Up until now, I assumed that they just wanted their visas.

my buddy lives in japan. it's a common misconception with japanese women
being infatuated with american men. you'll always have certain people of different races/ethnic backgrounds liking someone because they're different.

There's a perception in Japan that guys in Japan are pretty sexist and don't respect women. Then that's combined with the perception that American guys are a lot less boring and are more interesting/cute. Of course, if you're a gross slob, no amount of American heritage is going to save you.
