Do Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio, & Gunvalkyrie deserve a 2nd chance on Wii?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :lol :lol :lol

This is the best thread I've read all day. Want to play those games? Go buy an Xbox, like the rest of us did.

Seriously. The games wouldn't NEED a "2nd chance" if people had bought them in the first place.

The reason I think it would be a good idea is because the Wii is currently a hot property and maybe they can revive the franchises for cheap. There is a vast difference between someone spending money to go buy them now (especially since the XBox is dead), and Sega releasing them on a new system where they can find an audience receptive to a diversity of games.

Sure I can go buy them used at Gamestop, but you could do the same with RE4 on GCN and PS2. That didn't stop Capcom from putting it on Wii and reviving the game. These games probably more than most, I think would do well with a revival and would find and audience on Wii.

I guess the last point about putting it on Wii instead of 360/PS3 some would disagree with, since some believe the PS3 will come out #1 this generation and Wii #3, while others (including me) belive the Wii is the future and will have the biggest audience. I also believe (just through anecdotal evidence) that the Wii will have a bigger audience of hardcore gamers than 360 and PS3 (due to price and word of mouth), but either way that's likely where the biggest, most receptive audience will be IMO.

You mean all 90,000 of you that bought JSRF? Yeah, the game was a high-profile title before launch, then sold under 100,000 units. We need people to start admitting that they SO didn't buy an Xbox for Sega's awesome games.

Deserve? No, the correct question would be: does Wii deserve those games? And the answer would be: ports, yeah, why not.

The new installments in those series should appear on powerful hardware, expecially PDO.
So, you're basically saying that Wii shouldn't get ANY games in any established series because you have a preconceived notion of what the series "deserves"? Good thing you're not a fan of the Dragon Quest series. That was the epitome of "downgrade am total".

No, Mike Works is right.

People, if you've never played Gunvalkyrie, find an Xbox and a copy. The game is probably 3 bucks at Gamestop. You'll find plenty of copies because no one wants to play it.

It's not misunderstood. It is absurdly hard, with ridiculous and counter-intuitive thumb-murdering controls and some of the most unforgiving, startovertilyougetitrightorkillyourself platforming in gaming history.

It's not a misunderstood work of genius. Most people will find this game to be unplayable.

PDO would be pretty great on the Wii actually. The pointer mechanism is pretty much perfect for Rail Shooters.

I bought all three originally, and two of them are awesome but I'd rather see enhanced sequels instead of remakes at this point.

And I posted a thread many, many months ago begging for updated 'classic' rail shooters on the Wii. Panzer Dragoon and Rez games are a must, IMO, and I said as much then.

I actually bought Space Harrier 2 off the VC in hopes that one day I could play it with the wiimote. :/ Come on Nintendo, it's begging for it.

I'm just speaking realistically on the chances of Sega deciding to port 3 five-year-old games, and from the perspective of someone who's already played the games (at least PDO and JSRF, never had much interest in GV except for that fappable pic on the back of the JSRF manual) who would much rather see true sequels created with the Wii in mind than ports I have no real reason to buy.

Gunvalkyrie was worth the money I paid for it for the menu theme ''Valkyrie's Launch'' alone. But none of these games are good enough to deserve a second shot at life in a new generation. I could go for sequels though.

WinBack...

Wait, didnt they make a sequel to this great game and it imploded on itself?

Anyways, Id love to see sequels (NOT PORTS >:( ) of these games on the Wii, so get on it publishers.

New JSR certainly. Maybe a port of Orta, because I don't think Sega could build a new one without ****ing it up. Gunvalkyrie is crap.

I can agree with that... but sadly, I don't see it happening. As is the glib response, it's too good of an idea for Sega to actually do it. Although.... they ARE bringing back NiGHTS...... hmm, it's a toss-up. Maybe they'll bring these franchises back after they were sent to die on Xbox.

Everybody that misunderstands the game will claim it unplayable. But that's why it's misunderstood. As soon as you "get it" you'll appreciate the genius. The very fact that you lament the difficulty of platforming shows you didn't attain the skills necessary to play the game the proper way. When you play properly, you never touch the ground. Admittedly very few people got to that kind of skill level, but for those who did it's pure gaming nirvana.

Aside from the occasional spots that exhibit the worst level design ever.

I do think the game's controls get shat on a bit much, but the game has some big faults elsewhere.

I'd rather full-blown sequels. It's not like PDO, JSRF and Gunvalkyrie are hard to find (hell, you can get PDO and JSRF for like $3 each, not really sure about Gunvalkyrie) or on a system that totally bombed in the marketplace. Although I think SEGA should remake PDS for one of the systems, as that game is a lot harder to get ahold of.

Yep. Terrible game.

But even though I have all 3 of these games, and only liked Orta, I say sure, go ahead and give them a chance on the market leading platform. Gun Valkerie could be tons better with Wii controls, Orta could be fun that way too.

And...this is harsh, but it's not like SEGA's doing anything great these days. Remakes might be the best thing for them.

I would probably buy all of them if that came to be, but I am not sure that I like the idea of even more developers thinking of the Wii as a quick port/cash-in machine.

Gunvalkyrie could be interesting with motion-sensing for boosting. Probably be a lot more accessible, anyway. Not going to happen, though, obviously.

It's not the game's fault you're not any good at it. It's not supposed to be a walk in the park...the game is meant to be extremely hard.

Exactly, learn how to play the right way before you judge it.

I tend to like games that make the learning experience enjoyable.

It'd be pretty bizarre if people were capable of playing hours of a game without forming some kind of opinion, though.
