Low end is a must. Gotta be able to play down into the teens. 15hz and up is ideal. 4th order bandpass is great if you can build anything with your hands. I was using a 2500 watt 100+lb 18" on only 1200 Watts, and you can feel it in the ground, standing at the end of my driveway outside.
hey, perfect topic for what i was considering lately. Have a 55 inch LG HDTV, but it is lacking in bassy tones. SHould i get a surround sound system or just woofer?
edit: also on a budget, so i'm wanting to spend a minimul amount of cash. Will just a subwoofer enchance my audio in the way i desire? thx

Surround for sure. Even stereo 3 way speakers and a simple sub would be a million miles better than the teeny sounds from today's flatscreens. Believe it or not, older far tv's had better audio than the new ones today. There's no replacement for displacement.

Yup. Logitech left and right speakers/monitors + subwoofer on my desk while listening to music or really doing anything on my PC. I also produce/mix music with that set up and those low frequencies can't be missed. I don't mind watching movies or playing videogames with headphones, but music is just so much better with a subwoofer and a private room to actually crank up the volume and feel the vibrations all over. Love it.
