Do you have any self-imposed gaming restrictions?

Games must captivate me in the first 10 minutes of gameplay or else it sucks. I don't like games that need to grow on you. There's no excuse.

Never, ever, play games on a difficulty level below normal no matter what. Always complete on normal before deciding whether to repeat on hard.

who plays games below NORMAL rating first go?! :)

Ever since I read an article about this exact idea in Next Generation, I've sometimes been enamoured with the thought of adhering to that way of looking at games. I'm glad I never did. I would have missed out on some great moments.

Odnetnin: Some people must!

Changes all the time. At the moment:

No Online, period. This is gonna get broken soon, I think.
No MMORPGS. This one might be permanent at this point.
No buying new games if I've got more than three unplayed on the shelf.
No killing the roomate when he beats my ass in VF4:Evo. He pays rent :D

- No more straight up FPSes unless I've played them a lot and I still like them.
- Rarely buy a game if I have unplayed stuff sitting around
- Don't waste time trying to get through something I'm not enjoying

I have little interest in sports games and online play that doesn't involve my friends.

Outside of that yeah, I'm limited to when I'm not working and/or have all my work done, and times when my personal life will either not interfere or join me. That said, I don't have much gaming time.

I mainly only like to play fps type games at night, not for creepy effect, but it just feels so much more relaxing during the night.

I also only play three console games at a time, and I always like to play action adventure titles before serious rpg type games kinda as a warm-up. Balancing more than three games can get so confusing, but oddly enough, I never get mixed up with my pc games, even the ones I used a gamepad for.

-One game at a time. Each game deserves my full attention.

-Consult the FAQ only after the first playthrough.

-NEVER lend games.

Rule #1: NEVER loan out my games (or movies) to anyone! I'm not a fucking Blockbuster!

Rule #2: NEVER buy any game with the logo "3DO" on it! EVER!

Rule #3: NEVER buy any game with the name "Barbie" or "Maykate & Ashley" visible anywhere on the box!

No MMORPGs. Tradewars was fun 12 years ago, but that was back when I had loads of free time.

Other online games are fine, though. Though I don't play much other than FPS online.

I am trying not 2 play Paper Mario until my GC component cable arrives.

I got my new TV a months or so ago and my Xbox games look hot using the S-Video cable (can’t get component Xbox cable in Australia). Finally got around to buying Paper Mario and playing some rogue leader and MY GOSH the graphics suck!

Rang up NOAus ordered my cable should be here next week!!

I don't play licenced games *UNLESS* I've read good things about them(IE: Astro Boy for GBA). I also don't play any First-person shooters, racing games with out that 'arcade-feel to them', and 'realistic' sports simulators.

I have a few

- No realistic racers. No matter how good people make them sound, I know I'll just tire of them and leave them unfinished.
- One game at a time.
- Sports games - one per generation per sport. I'm thinking of breaking this one though, because I bought all of my sports titles in 2001.
- If I'm gonna buy a new game, I've gotta finish an old one

New ones I'm looking to implement

- Only buy full price games if you absolutely cannot live without them, or they are going to be nearly impossible to find in the future.
- No more than $AUD1000 to spend on games in a calendar year.

If I can't finish a game I sell it. I only want to own games I've completed or are working on completing.

I also can't stand to not own all of a series, with a few exceptions. So I end up with a lot of sidestory crap like MK Special Forces and RE Survivor.
