Do you personally know anyone who had COVID-19?

The best I can do is my girlfriend's aunt, who was asymptomatic, and already over it. Also, one Facebook friend who I vaguely know, claims to have it. He seems quite fine too.

Yup. Quite a few at my work got it. Some even got it in the other buildings and they sent email to those buildings but not to ours. Cool, huh?

One of my co-workers also had several family members die from it from one of the hotspots.

Yes.

A pair in New York city (mid 40s)
2 kids - no symptoms.
She - lost sense of taste for several weeks.
He - was scarily coughing non-stop (that dry cough)
Recovered.

A colleague in Germany. (late 40s)
She - no symptoms whatsoever.
Husband/Son - symptomatic dry coughing, fever for several days.
Recovered. (curiously all that happened back in Feb, very early for Germany)

A colleague in UK. (late 40s)
She - no symptoms whatsoever, not even clear if she had Wulhan Virus.
Him - "it felt like hell", got better, then got blood blockage in hand, got operated. Still ill.

Oh yes I do.

My mother and her partner probably had it, nothing serious fortunately.

A friend of mine, 37 years old and with a 3yo child, was out of breath and barely able to go through the day for most of a week.

And I know of several people in town, even whole families, who’ve been through it.

A few acquaintances and friends of friends, including 1 fatality.
Half of my bar regulars are 60+ career drinkers, I wonder how many of them got it. I worry about my buddy Lou, this 88 year old shit talking guy who is like the quintessential og New Yorker. I love that cantankerous old bastard.

Yeh, a few. In the worst case the person was in an induced coma for two weeks hooked up to a ventilator. Scary shit. Didn’t even have any pre-existing conditions that contributed to it. It just hit them really hard for some reason. Thankfully they are now awake and out of the ICU. Still on hospital but recovering well.

Fortunately not so far.

Kind of unfortunately I have a load of people who never got tested claiming that they did have it because they "had symptoms".

A good friend sent several messages to a whatsapp group we are in saying she was taking her kid to get tested and she was freaking out, this was weeks ago.
Then silence. Stopped responding to messages.
A week later she comes back saying the kid tested negative but she "just forgot" to tell anyone.

Honestly anyone claiming to have had this without having ever been tested is taking the piss.

My friend's wife's dad has it, I guess

He's apparently fine. No worse than the regular flu, anyway

Yes.

First one was one of the kids of a colleague, who was hospitalized just when the lockdown started here in the UK. She's still not feeling very well but survived it. Just after the wife of a friend got it, but at least didn't need to get to stay at the hospital. She got better after about 3 weeks and is now still recovering. My friend still doesn't show symptoms, but the hospital didn't test him at any point so he's not sure if he got it or not. One of the neighbours got it, haven't heard from him in a week. Sister-in-law was in contact with a confirmed case, didn't show symptoms yet. She also didn't get tested, because she showed no symptoms. Hospital effectively told her just stay at home and call them in case she can't breathe anymore. Did I already mention how backwards the UK is (other countries as well of course...) when it comes to testing? I know a few more, including some of my students.

Three weeks ago was the first death of someone in my social circle due to COVID-19. Since he was in isolation not even his family could say goodbye. He died alone in the intensive care unit. Due to travel restrictions and other lockdown measures his funeral wasn't well attended.

My fiancé works at Evergreen Medical center in Kirkland where the first deaths occurred, so yeah I know a lot of people. They're all her co-workers. Some were asymptomatic, some nearly died, some just suffered a great deal. None fortunately died.

My cousin's wife had it, already recovered. And also a close friend (who I haven't seen for 2 months) is on license resting at his house for 15 days at least. Mild symptoms.

I've had it. Two and a half weeks off work; coughing with no phlegm, tight band around chest with constricted breathing, tiredness (couldn't walk from an upstairs room down half a set of stairs without being exhausted and out of breath) and fatigue as well as a fever of 38.2 degrees celsius.

Some relatives of my brothers in-laws died from it. Don't know anyone personally who has had it though.

My dad's former doc and doc's wife, both ~60 yo, got it from somebody who stayed with them for a couple days after returning from out of country. He and his wife had mild symptoms and recovered without issue.

A family friend in his early 30s who was running 12-13 miles a day in preparation for some event caught it early on. He was sick for about four weeks and coughing up blood at one point. He's about a week post-symptomatic and still gets tired after a couple minutes of talking on the phone. He regularly has to pause to attempt a deep breath during conversation. He hasn't had his lungs checked out yet and is rightfully afraid of what he is going to find out.

I've probably already had it. I felt weird for almost 2 weeks. I also know someone who I think had it, but they never got tested. It was fairly early on.

Not yet but it only hit my county a week ago and we're up to 27 cases already.

lol where do you live, the moon?

My country, pop. 5.5 mil, 18 dead, I don't know anyone who has had it. I don't think I have had it. Fuck it.

Edit: Sorry, I thought you said country. Sorry, gg.

Edit Edit: Sad to see many people actually affected on GAF. Shit is real. It's easy to swing on this one, like most survive, but it can randomly kill you off.

A co workers father had it and passed away from it. He died about 2 weeks ago. He was 84 years old. So no, I know no one who has had it or currently has it.

This thread just reminds how unpredictable this virus is, not in terms of who dies, but in terms of how fucked up you get from it.

It’s blowing up at my work and they still haven’t shut us down. People are starting to freak out. It was 2 confirmed cases at the start of last week and 5 by the end of it. Just got out of work now and they just announced 4 more cases. The worst thing is that they’re not allowed to say who the employees are. They said they will let the ppl know who came in contact with them privately. The problem is they consider a 15 min conversion with the person contact....

This is fuckin bullshit. I thought for sure they’d shut us down with just 1 confirmed case but no. Now we’re at 9 a week later.

Yep, just 1.

Girlfriends uncle. Found unconscious by his neighbour, currently 20 days in a coma on respirator. Suffered 2 mini strokes, pneumonia and has an issue with blood clots, all due to covid. He is now virus free but still in a coma. Getting updates is tricky as he lives abroad in Spain.

It's no where near as bad as the fake news are making out.
First they didn't want to cover it at all when it was in Wuhan, then it's wall to wall coverage, and end of the world after it hits the rest of the world. The media is awful, and will always be awful in this system. They could have pressured governments to shut down travel much sooner to nip it in the bud, but instead they didn't even cover it until Trump did the travel ban, and called it racist, now have to admit it was a good idea. It's worse than the initial Chinese/WHO propaganda, but not as bad as the media now promotes.

I am convinced I had it, but at the time testing was only for those who where dying or working at hospitals. I am looking to get an antibody test as soon as I am able.

Yep. Best friend had it it a couple of weeks ago. He and his mom both tested positive. They quarantined together and it was a rough 10 or so days.
