I know you do... If you were reading comics in the 90s, you can't not remember Valiant Comics. :)

I used to enjoy valiant comics. I really liked how well everything in their universe clicked and Unity blew my mind. Unfortunately it seems as though instead of carrying on the trend of story driven comics they turned into another cog in the wheel that the comics in that generation turned into.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Magnus Robot Fighter was my shit! I use to love that book... but now I'm not sure why.... I think I briefly read Bloodshot and Ninjak but don't remember much about them... something about one of those characters' blood was special IIRc...

Acclaim bought them, right?

I remember looking at all the comics all over the place when I was a QA grunt there before "the end". The entire Valiant catalog was there too. Good times.

I think the Wizard people had some sort of take in Valiant or something, because it seems to me their promotion of these books as "valuable" was really what made them hot. It was a pretty dark time for comics at any rate... I've heard pretty conflicting views about their quality...

I still have the set of bio. cards for those characters, plus -- I have a bunch of pogs that my brother collected from those comics :p

i remember you could get like 6 packs of Valient comics for .99 cents at PicNSave back in the day. They had like a million copies of Turok no. 1.

I remember the comics being worth hundreds of dollars thanks to the low-print run. Were they even well-written? The art was trash.

What is Jim Shooter up to now? I haven't kept up with comics in a while, I just remember he started a few companies after Valiant and they all shut down.

If I'm not mistaken Bloodshot had AIDS.

I think he started a new comic company recently. There was a rumor that he was going to go back to Marvel as Chief Editor.

I'm proud to say, I've never purchased one single Valiant comic.

But then again, I was a Marvel Zombie in the early 90s, so...

I'm ashamed to say I bought multiple copies of Turok and X-o chromium books. What an investment that turned out to be.

If it makes you feel any better, I have all of the X-Men #1 covers, and two polybagged X-Force #1s with trading cards.

I got bloodshot #1 somewhere and a couple of others, I think it was Valiant that did a crossover that turned me on to Nexus

lemme tell you something son, this guy is SO FARKING HUGE HE'LL FLEX AND DESTROY THE SUN no shit
Well, at least Deathmate was a nice read. :D (Black being my fave)

Oh hell yeah!

And the best part is a lot of the artists assclowns like nomoment, and the rest of you fucking comics nerds got their start with Valiant. I recall enjoying Rags Morales run on Turok.

The writing was good at the time. I was a fan of Archer & Armstrong, X-O Manowar, and Bloodshot. Solar was okay too, but mainly because there aren't enough Polish superheroes! :p

Now that they're a fraction of the price. I'd suggest checking out some of the titles. I mean, you fuckers ostensibly read comics because they're fun. What's better than a fun comic for 25 cents? :/

Ditto about the X-Men covers, and I'd say there are no fewer than 8 copies of X-Force #1 in my house between my brothers and I. Five bagged with a unique card in each. What a waste.

I never collected Valiant back in the day, but my comic store recently had a fill-a-small-box for $35 sale, and I got quite a few for the hell of it.

The Art is very depressing.

Indeed.
Silvertri and Jim Lee's pages were the best in them, of course. Loved the way they drew Voodoo:)

I remember they did pages in Prologue also?

That Unity crossover had to be (and continues to be) one of the best reads in comic history. The overlapping stories and the different perspectives each comic took was pretty ingenious.

i use to have a couple x-o issues.

valient was crap though.

edit: wtf? bloodshot was a valiant comic? i thought it belonged to image.

Oh hell yes!

I still have the entire run of the original Shadowman series. Fuck the second series where he got all thugged out and angry. The creole saxophonist / half vampire shit with an awful costume rocked! :D

Just noticed the ninjak image is not in chromium. Didn't #1 come in one?
I remember it had a badass Quesada drawing.

I really only remember Valiant for their Nintendo comics back in them days (which seem hard to find these days). Though from learning about them in this thread, seems like they inspired an inordinate amount of mediocre videogames. ;)
