I just realized that I don't use bookmarks… I always type the website I want into the search bar. Auto fill helps this not be tedious and I completely forgot that bookmarks exist.

What about you guys… do you use bookmarks or just type in website addresses every time?

Yeah, but mostly for work-related stuff.

I had a huge folder of bookmarks that somehow got deleted, and I was devastated for about a day. Then I realized that I never clicked on 95% of them and that it was just stuff I stumbled across and thought "I definitely need to read this later" and then never did.

Yes, for work and at home, mostly for useful sites I don't visit all the time but don't want to forget.

Most browsers have a homepage where they automatically include links to your most-visited sites. That's where I've got GAF & bills/banking accounts "bookmarked". The essentials.

I use a self-hosted bookmark manager running in Docker (linkding). I wouldn't trust something like bookmark management to a browser - there are too many instances where it could be easily wiped out, and I'm not going to sign up for their "syncing services" to split the difference.

I don't bookmark sites I regularly visit (like NeoGAF or YouTube), but I use my bookmarks a lot. Useful sites and tools, resources I'll need to use again.

I use a very organized bookmark system, every year I make a new bookmarks folder and put all the links that I bookmarked that year in it, I don't know why but I have been doing that for a decade

I don't really use bookmarks either but I use that frequently visited sites thing on firefox, Brave etc.
Actually tried opening up a heap of old bookmarks the other day and a lot of them are dead anyway.

Siri remembers my top viewed sites and makes pseudo bookmarks automatically. I don't use my pc for web browsing.

Interesting question. Yes, sometimes, especially for work.
Also:

I put links on the bookmarks bar to make sure I see it all the time and will remember to check it, like gg.deals or a local event coming up. I have a folder for go-to music and use more folders if I'm dealing with an issue like replacing a car part or modding a game system, all that shit gets contained in its own folder and sometimes deleted later.

I have a lot of bookmarks yes. It helps me remember the sites i like, otherwise i would have forgot 90% of them.

Yeah all the time, infact i get so used to them, if a site goes i keep clicking in that spot on the list out of habit for a while

Firefox with Tree Style Tab addon and the bookmarks extension gives me the best environment for web browsing.

Yes lots i use Firefox and have a lot.for work. Firefox sync means I get them saved and available on any device that can run FF. I think most modern browsers support this

I built up a large collection of porn over the years of bookmarks, until recently when my SSD failed and as it was a different browser that I didn't log in or have backed up.

Op you should use bookmarks and always back up your porn.

With firefox sync, you will have your bookmarks and history shared amongst all your devices. You can also send tabs between devices.

What I like to do is slowly build up bookmarks and never ever use them. 5 years later I look through them. Not by conscious choice, but by chance that I happened to go that way and curiosity made me stay. Like when you find a box of your old toys, except less fun. Then I delete them all because they're irrelevant, and the cycle repeats.

At work? I use them every day, they're invaluable.

Yes. And I use a speed dial 'homepage', as Opera introduced.

I don't use Opera anymore, but Vivaldi, made my some of the original Opera devs.

I use a bookmark bar for my daily visited sites, and a speed dial for often visited ones. Then a while bookmark folder with any extras/naughty stash.

Speed dials are great on mobile devices.
