Do you watch DVDs on your PS2/Xbox?

I'm curious how many people here use the DVD features of those consoles.

Lately I've ditched my DVD player and have been using only my PS2 to play DVDs. I spent over 100 dollars on my DVD player in mid 2002 and it nearly murders every disk I put into it. Every other disk I play on it has to stop for 30 seconds some where and start an epic battle of noise with the player. I thought the problems were always in the disks but after using the PS2 there have been none so far. :)

So right now PS2 is my main player and the other one is for backup. :p

I've not yet purchased a standalone player, as I don't watch much TV or movies. I've been using both consoles as DVD players from the start. In fact, on 10\26\00, early moring when I got my PS2, I walked back to my Blazer and hooked it all up to a TV right there. Fight Club was the first disc in my launch PS2

I occasionally use my PS2. Haven't learned the playback commands on the controller, though, so I'd rather not.

Don't see the value in buying a cheap remote for the PS2 or a more expensive remote just for the very privilege of playing DVDs on my Xbox.

I used to when I first got my PS2 at launch. But once I start hearing about the disc error ppl were experiencing, I stopped. If my PS2 is gonna die, it'll atleast have to die because of games(Luckily it's still going strong, and with HDloader, it'll stay that way). I use the xbox once in a while if it's in my room at that moment.

My Xbox works perfectly fine for watching DVD movies. Getting a stand-alone DVD player would just be a waste of space and money. Add to that even MORE cables around my TV. Nooooo thanks.

I do, unless the girlfriend or a friend or relative wants to watch it, in which case I play the movie in the standalone DVD player in the main room, where everyone can sit on the couch.

Lately I haven't used it much since I never got the PS2 remote and I'm kinda lazy with the onscreen menus.

My PS2 is the only DVD player I've got. I've never had a problem with it, I don't understand all the bad rep it has.

The only time I use my PS2 as a DVD player is when I take it with me on long trips, for example if I'm stuck in a hotel for 4-5 nights. Doesn't happen often.

Well there's your problem right there. Nowadays, $100 players are at least fairly decent.

Yeah, I know. But compared to the PS2 ($149) it should be at least just as good. =\

My xbox is the only dvd player in my living room, I use it when I want good sound, and want to lay back. Most of the time I just watch stuff on my computer.

IAWTP. Swedes are teh smartest of men. ;)

I hate cable lumps behind the TV so much that when I moved into my current apartment I sat down and stripped together every peace of cable I could find with those strips that you get with cables when you buy them, it looked awsome and my TV bench could actually be pressed all against the wall.. now it's a disaster again. :(

I use my Xbox at college since it saves space and is less crap I have to bring to school. When I'm at home I just use a DVD player.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I use my XBOX to stream .VOB files (ripped DVDs) over a network. I don't like to put non-gaming related wear and tear on the optical drive so I have stand alone players for movie disc playback.

Yes, although under duress. My stand-alone DVD player doesn't play any burned DVDs so if I'm not going to watch a retail DVD I have to use either my Xbox or PS2 both of which have flaws that makes them inferior to my stand-alone. :(

Same for me. And my computer's DVD drive doesn't even work very well, so my PS2 really is my only DVD computer. But I don't want that many DVDs, so that set-up is fine for me!
