I take off my shoes once a day. I'll turn around and go home if someone won't let me wear them in their house.

Well isn't that special.

Good thinking though. They're probably better off without you in their house.

off due to comfort. when it's really cold and I'm not in the lounge with the heater blasting, I'll keep them on for warmth.

Up here in Canada I know of nobody that leaves their shoes on. We all take them off at the door.

I always wear my shoes in the house unless they are obviously dirty or it's been raining outside. :lol

We have wood floors in the rooms and hallways, but the rest of the house (greeting area, living rooms, kitchen, pantry, etc.) is all tile, so there's really no need to take off my shoes (and even if there was, the floors are really cold LOL).

Oh god. That must do the trick!

I see people put their feet(with shoes on) on the couch. That's just gross.

Having a dog or a cat must be pretty gross sometimes, too. They can't wipe their own ass and they sit on your couch.

I dont see why people would want to bring all the crap theyve been walking on into their homes.

But to each his own. Almost as bad as going on with the clothes you've slept in.

I like to be in my shoes so I usually wear shoes inside my house/dorm...

one time I hung out with some Asians and felt weird cause I didn't take of my shoes when I went in...

the thing is I feel weird taking them off and maybe having my socks/feet stink. The only time I'd be ok is if I had just taken a shower like right before, oherwise, even if I haven't been running or working hard, I'd be paranoid about it...

In my house I do take off my shoes usually though (even though I prefer shoes sometimes my feet need a rest), but I prefer socks on...

a couple of years ago I got in the habit of being barefoot all the time, and even though I never had a stink problem, once I went back to college I got back in the habit of wearing shoes...

for some reason I prefer them, though due to my feet feeling like they need a rest, I will take them off in my dorm room to sleep sometimes, and even my socks, and sometimes just to relax...

I thought the same, too, until I met my girlfriend.

But as far as I'm concerned, I don't like shoes anywhere 10 feet from the doors, back door or front door. Some of my friends bring their shoes right down to the downstairs living room and it downright irks me.

And do you let others wear their shoes around your house?

I've been told it's an Asian thing to have everyone take their shoes off before going into the house/not wear them inside...

It's a Good Housekeeping/Martha Stewart thing, most likely. I'm not sure of the historical origins of Asians in particular taking their shoes off when they enter someone's home, but growing up in traditional suburbia, friends' mothers told me to check the Nikes in the foyer because they just had the rug cleaned.

I don't take my shoes off. Friends are free to if they'd like, though.

i usually wear slippers inside because i can't stand walking on sticky or wet floors. Our floor is made from some really cheap plastic-like tile that always seems to have this mild stickiness to it. Add to that the fact that my roommate doesn't do much cleaning, and doesn't pick/wipe up small spills, and i have to wear slippers all the time outside of when i'm in my room.

i've been in people's houses where they require you to take off your shoes and i don't have a problem with it, but there's always one friend, especially in gaming circles, that really needs to wash his funky feet. (You know who you are.)

I go barefoot in my domain, socks in others'. Wearing shoes in the house is kinda silly, who wants to bring all the mud and dirt you step on outside, inside? So I take my shoes off when over at someone else's place unless they forbid it.

I have a Taiwanese friend and 1/2 Korean friend that take there shoes off when we game every Friday...

so yeah I noticed the whole Asian-thing to this...

I always assumed it was because of the way things were back in Asia and just followed tradition and orderly ways or something...

I have the most ridiculous story about that. When I was a kid I went over to this other kid's house for the first time, and they live in this dump with juice/soda stains and cat hair all over the carpet. And they STILL made me take off my shoes. My socks were filthy by the time I left. Needless to say I never went back there. :lol

I find it hilarious how close-minded you are :lol

Yeah, AssMan, it does do the trick. If I notice the shoes are dirty, wet, or have some sort of leakage, I'll take them off. In addition, if somebody asks me to remove my shoes, I'll remove said shoes. I usually just leave them on- personal preference.

Welcome back from your recent banning, incidentally. I trust it hasn't done you any good.

As it's not a custom to wear shoes indoors here, no, never, unless I forget something and just run back in to get that something.

I speed-read above that someone was afraid to take off their shoes at an Asian's house because their feet might stink.. well duh if you keep your shoes on all day. :lol

I take my shoes off indoors most of the time. It's just more comfortable. The only time i'd wear shoes in my house is when i have to quickly run in and grab something (happens alot 'cos i'm forgetful).

I actually laid some vinyl down immediately inside the front door, with a bit of wood strip, creating a 'shoe zone' in the hall. Thats where you walk into and take your shoes off before stepping on the main hall area.
