Doctor's Form, 'Are You Of Ashkenazi Jewish Descent?"

I had to fill out a lot of doctor's paperwork and one page asked for family history of cancer and other illnesses and one question asked, "are you of Askenazi Jewish descent?"

I marked 'yes' because I am (though I'm pretty sure I have some Mizrahi in there as well)

First time I've seen that on a doctor's form. I know about the whole genetic disorders common with Ashkenazim but I guess that's a new thing to ask?

You a jew? Good to know. *scribbles furiously*

I won't cook any shellfish for you.

Is that connected to serial intermarriage?

There was a great article about Pakistanis in Britain who marry quite close to their family due to congregating insular and in low-ish numbers.

Scary stuff, is there a way for the Ashkenazi to work around that?
Not really but that's kind of beyond my paygrade lol.

Encourage marriage outside of the community. Reform Judaism is pretty inter faith friendly compared to Conservative and Orthodox Judaism.

Did the Dr look like Charlie Chaplin?

Hope you don’t have tay-san disease, op

I guess the solution woud be to marry outside of the group for a few generarations.
