Does gaming in general need a Revolution?

Ive been gaming since the beginning of the NES days, loved the SNES days, went through the first and best 3D console where Mario 64 was born, and now onto the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox.....am I the only one tired of our current games, or is it just me?

Games like jungle beat, donkey konga, yoshi's touch 'n go, wario ware seem to be the only games that are truly worth playing these games...

I need a gaming Revolution, do you??

If there is a better way to play games that hasn't been exploited yet, I don't see why any rational person would refuse it should it come to market. Then again, fear of change is pretty common in people.

Nope I'm still happy with my FPS , until someone can make the scenes that I can see in my dreams

so no.

:dance

The last game that felt like a great learning-experience, that felt as if I was 8 years-old picking up something new was "Kirby: Canvas Curse" ----

certainly not the most "awesomenessly-amazing" game evar --- but the feeling was very welcome in such a tight little package.

I would not mind a new way of playing games...

That said, there are alot of traditional games that I very much enjoy so I guess what I am trying to say is that I would not desire a revolution at the expense of that tried and true (and fun)

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Jungle Beat, and Donkey Konga as much as anybody, but I still luv me some MGS3 and RE4 :)

i will have to play that

Yes you will :D --- The problem is: people who have widdled their skills down focused on FPS games over the last decade are actually challenged by it, write it off as 'bad-controls', and move back into what they're used to ........ kinda sad, considering that games (as a whole) are one of the only mediums that has proven that people naturally like to be challenged without a cohesive reward...

Yes, I think we are. How many times can one play the same type of games? Showing my dad Wario Ware Twisted and seeing him laugh at the fun he was having with something so simple was great and showed me that thier is truely a need for new game experiences. Hell even if its just gyro control I believe these new controll methods really are neeed and will help games in the long run till we eventually get VR. Ive been trying to get my dad to actively play a game for years this is the first one he has truely said, " Man I need more time with this" and "save it for me for later cause this is one of the most unique and coolest things I have tried in a while."

I am fine with what I get. If something new came around I would welcome it, but there is no need for a radical change.

there's a ton of potential in gyration control --- it's suprising that it hasn't been explored before .....

- Just think to the first time someone (anyone-really) picks up a controller, and starts to jerk/crab/swing it around during a more stressfull gameplay-moment.

not only that, it offers a nice emulation of mouse-style control --- something consoles have missed out on since day-1

If it weren't for Nintendo and stuff like the DS, yes gaming would need a Revolution. As it stands, Nintendo is keeping things fresh even pre-Revolution. I like a neat FPS now and then, too, but I need fresh stuff in addition to it, and Nintendo's one of the only ones that really does that well, IMO.

I'm not saying a change is needed, but it's more welcome to me than the general sequels that other developers tend to pump out.

I think the DS has proven that with proper execution, there is a market for new innovations in hardware when combined with the right software and ergonomics.

I've been waiting years for non-games like Nintendogs to start showing up.

Games like that an Electroplankton are nice time-killers for people who want to relax and play a game for 10 minutes and move on.

Many people don't have a lot of time to spend with a 40 RPG or epic adventure.

Canvas Curse really does look awesome. Anybody seen the commercial yet? The footage looked good.

The thing is, I don't need a major revolution. As long as great games in the established genres, I won't have any problem with them, and I will still enjoy them. Then, there will be my DS and the periodical game like DK: JB or WW Twisted that refresh everything for me.

I'm down. I need it.
Must games, I can't pass 6-8 hours anymore.
Too boring.

Bring on something new.
