Does Radio still figure in your music listening habits?

Radio can also include online radio stations or AI radio programs like Pandora. Basically, stuff that gets played for you instead of playing from your music collection.

Radio was a big for me as a teen. But when Napster came around and later iTunes and now streaming services, radio became less relevant to my listening habits.

I would create my own playlists and had near limitless access to music. I became my own DJ.

However, these days I'm enjoying radio again. It's nice having someone or something pick music for you. There's less decision fatigue and it's a great way to expose yourself to new stuff.

I thought I was done with radio after getting into the streaming services, but I find myself getting back on the bandwagon.

Commute to work in the car I listen to the radio sometimes. Although when my son is in he car I play classical stuff off my iPhone like Beethoven and Mozart.

Yup I love finding out new music. Usually when I listen to Pandora I'm listening to the hits stations so I can keep up with the new songs that come out.

Yep. I'm one of the weird ones that likes FM radio while driving. It's something familiar to me that I don't have to concentrate too much on. Don't like to listen to CDs in the car unless they are greatest hits type CDs, it's too hard for me to concentrate on full albums and I prefer to do that at home.

Jetsetradio.live is the first radio I've listened to in years. Only got to it from a thread on GAF

Don't go to it that often. Radio isn't a big thing to me

If I need a break from selecting music I'll just switch on NPR One.. so, kinda. It's not rare that I sit in my car five minutes before driving just trying to select something to listen to.

da fuck is a radio? that thing that plays commercials like on the TV with the box attached to it? weird.

The only radio I listen to is sports talk, the radio for music is a waste, better off sticking to pandora/spotify.

0% unless you count Spotify Discover playlists. Listening to FM nowadays drives me nuts. Pandora never seems to play anything I like past the first song. I do listen some though on the rare occasion I rent a car on vacation and it has XM satellite radio.

The mainstream radio in the States and here in the Czech Republic sucks hard for contemporary music. I mean in the States sure you got your alternative station which is ok 20% of the time, the hip hop station usually sucks though (mainly because of censorship laws other than the selection). Best case scenario you live close enough to a place where there is college radio.

Luckily in Prague there are like 5 radio stations that are actually super groundbreaking or have a quality mix. Radio 1, Colour Radio, Express FM, Dance Radio specifically are awesome and I'll listen to them if I'm driving. Sometimes at home I'll listen to them on the internet to get a mix for what's happening out there. It's the benefit of living in the cultural center of a country. You guys in the States basically get this with satellite radio.

Edit: Basically I get the notion of "the radio? What? Everythingis trash there". I get it. It's like modern MTV. But there are pockets in the world of radio that are actually incredibly relevant and should not be looked down on. In fact they should be praised. Unfortunately these stations never reach most of the listeners in the world.

Not many good stations to listen to in my area, but sometimes I'll skim around if I forgot to make a new CD.

If Tune-In radio counts then yeah. The only way I'd be able to listen to the music I listen to without my actual music collection is from online radio stations.

I don't listen to the radio, neither over the air or through any kind of wire. I've got an old 64 GB iPod hooked up to my car for music listening. And at home I just have a digital collection to pick from. If I need to find something new I go to specialty websites or threads.

Yeah. Most of my music listening is done while driving. I have XM in my daily driver, which is nice to have on trips because it works in the middle of nowhere, though I do listen to music stored on my iPhone sometimes, and I did listen to CDs in my previous car. In one of my cars, terrestrial radio is basically the only option. There is a cassette deck, but it hasn't worked in a couple years to my knowledge.

Terrestrial radio I mostly use for either sports talk or news while driving but wxpn is rock solid for new alt everything. First heard White Denim ( Nintendo Switch song, Ha Ha Ha Ha yeah) on that station.

I forgot, I use ESPN Radio for all the Seahawks games whenever I can. Great listening.

I tune in to classic rock radio in the morning because I win a lot of shit off that station with their "College of Rock Knowledge" stuff.

That's really the only time I listen to radio.

The only time i'm listening to radio these days is in the car, and I usually stick to sports talk radio
Sports talk radio on TuneIn is actually a regular listen now. Both the local sports station and Hockey Central at Noon on the Toronto station. Sports talk radio in Canada is much better now. They used to pick up shows from the US but who gives a crap about American sports preferences. Now it's all Canadian content.

I've also got a Classic Rock station on a radio in the bathroom, but that's obviously just a rare listen.

When I was a teenager I listened to the radio all of the time. Now I couldn't tell you a Top 40 song to save my life. Now I listen to AM sports radio which I do enjoy. For music I stick to CDs or my iPod.

Podcasts and Spotify make sure I never have to listen to commercials or something I don't like. Unless you count the Discover Weekly as Radio since I didn't pick it.
It's pretty accurate to styles of music I like that I hadn't heard of the band before.

I work 12 hour shifts in construction/manufacturing. Talk radio and local programming represents 50% of my day.

I haven't listen to the radio in years no joke...It's the last place i discover music from. I remember fetty wap getting play in NY before he blew up and i didn't know the song name though. Reviews sites/blogs/youtube channel subscriptions are how i get my music to listen/purchase.

It's my morning alarm

The randomness of radio station I put on the previous evening for the alarm keeps me from getting used to the sound.

Apple Music is how I consume my music.
Beats 1 for radio
Radio apps for live streaming currently the events
Podcasts for weekly contenf

I listen to a combination of the above for about 12-14 hours a day during the week. Nearly none on the weekends
