So after watching 4 back to back episodes of this show last night I have a couple of questions.

1. He said he did time in jail for murder so that's how he can relate to these criminals he arrests and can relate to what they're going through. So, who has the details of this murder conviction and why is he not in prison for life?

2. How the hell does the whole "bounty hunting" career work? I mean they kept making references in the show about how his son Leland had these bails or bonds signed by him and another co-signer and they always seem to be arresting people if they fail to show up for court dates. How does that system work and how does Dog's family get paid for these services?

I dunno about the murder conviction, but bounty hunters generally get their pay from bail bondsmen. They hire them to grab the guys they posted bail for that skipped out on them.

1. Either it's fake or he killed someone in self-defense and/or involuntarily.

2. When a person skips court or doesn't post bail, a good amount of money is generally put on that person if a "civil citizen" brings that person in. If the cops do it, no reward, it's their job. But if, say, DOG the Bounty hunter brings him in, he'll get the money- I think, actually, the sum is the amount of court costs and/or bond for crimes committed.

Why are you watchING DOG the Bounty Hunter?

i think he was with a guy who commited a murder/robbery, so he only got like 10 years for manslaughter or something. Dog is awesome though. You gotta love when they try to go all covert-ops and shit. If it isn't bad enough they are the only white people around in most of the neighborhoods they go to, they have to dress like roadies for Van Halen circa 1983.

I dunno, there's something about that show that makes me laugh. He looks like a bad roadie (as another guy mentioned) and he goes around arresting people while the entire time he's preaching on about family values. It's just a funny concept for a show and I actually enjoy the hilarious hijinx that ensue! I've got the Dog-bug!

The fact that he's based in Hawaii is also funny. I've always thought of the place as a resort destination / safe place to be yet he's out there going after "hardened" criminals. I would expect this type of show to be based in Detroit or some place with alot of inner city crime going on.

BTW I'd like to note that Dog the Bounty Hunter rocks. "Fee-fi-fo-fum, Andrew Luster here I come!"

Come on, that's awesome.

....okay it is, shut up.

But generally, because he looks like a cross between Diamond Dallas Page and Dee Snyder and he talks about morality, I hate it so much.

But as kitsch, it's good.

I think he was part of a biker gang and one of them murdered someone while he was there. The law then was that if you were there and don't report the crime you will get charged as an accessory.

I was watching I think the Discovery Channel, it was a documentry about bounty hunters for bail bond companies. It showed how must have no training and almost all of them have criminal records...

Yeah, that's what wikipedia says. He was sentenced to 5 years and served 2.
