Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Turns out my laptop was defaulting to the the core gfx and not the dedicated. Got it switched dover and now I get 25 fps locked at max res my laptop can output at :)

Looks miles better compared to on the wii! Loads fast aswell!

Agh, I really wish I could get SMG2 to run well with LLE enabled, I can't bring myself to play the game without that awesome background music. I'm rocking a i5 2500K overclocked to 4.0ghz and a 1GB 6950, I should be able to run this game at close to full speed almost all the time right? Is there a specific build of dolphin that you guys find better SMG2 performance with?
Really? Overclocking doesn't help that much?

I mean, I have an i7-930 and a Radeon HD5870 (forget how much VRAM), and while I can run Melee at full speed with HLE, if I turn on LLE, then it starts to average more around 30-40 FPS during matches with 3-4 characters. They don't even have to be doing anything - just spawning them in Training Mode on a more bland stage like Fountain of Dreams is enough to incur the framerate hit.

I figured that the LLE was to blame, and given that that's largely a CPU-bottlenecked thing, and my CPU is still running stock timings/voltages, that it might be time to give OCing a go... yet here you are with a CPU two "tiers" better than mine (according to Tom's HW), overclocked faster than mine is, and you're still getting issues. Eep. :E

Just wanted to confirm, I'm running Xenoblade at x4(also 4xSSAA) with a 5870 and an i7 870. I tried running it at x3 at double the SSAA but it killed the framerate and held it at mid 20's. Is this performance normal?

Thanks, but it looks like the file has been removed from all the download locations :/

Copy the quoted text below to a text file, save the text file as "patch.pff" and decode it with uudecode or with WinRAR. That should get you a 70 bytes large binary file. Then patch the Xenoblade-iso you should have created yourself with patch.pff using PPF-O-MATIC. After you've done that, you should now be able to run the EU version of Xenoblade at 30fps in Dolphin.

Do you really need AA at all at 4x? I find that I don't, personally, since the downscaling to 1080p makes things super sharp anyway.

Been playing through Xenoblade. No issues whatsoever, even managed to put myself into the game without it looking too bad:

my girlfriend didn't come out too well though:

ah well. Cutscenes are fucking hilarious.

Does anyone else have problems with the sensor bar when playing games that require it? I tried playing The Conduit and the cursor was all over the place. It was sometimes too sensitive and sometimes not at all. I also have to be closer to the sensor bar than I had to for playing on my actual Wii. I use the sensor bar connected to my Wii.

Does anyone know if there is a way to use the high res texture pack for Xenoblades while using the NTSC U.S. version of the game? The texture pack seems to be PAL and I can't get it to load.

You need to rename each file to have the correct USA code.

Yeah. Every single PNG image. Doing it through the command line is the best way.

edit: either that, or a simpler way would be to open up the xenoblade ISO with trucha explorer (IIRC) and change it's internal code to the PAL one.

Ugh. I can't believe someone just hasn't uploaded a version with that already done.

So where do I find the USA names? I'll just do it manually.

If I just change it to PAL, doesn't that mean I have to then patch it with the 30fps patch too?

For anyone running the North American version of the game and wants the HD texture pack here it what you do:

1) Download the pack and extract it to the folder Dolphin/User/Load/Textures.

2) Download this script and place it in the same folder as all the textures.

3) Click on the script to run it. Select Option "1" and hit enter. It will change all the file names to include the proper Header (SX4E01).

4) Make sure to change the Texture Folder itself to "SX4E01"

5) Enjoy!

Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing the crackling problem in the sound?

I'm pretty sure it isn't my system since I am getting a constant 30fps. I have Crossfired Radeon 6870s and a i930 clocked at 3.33GHZ.

I tried switching to the other audio mode because I saw that suggested on another form (LLC?) but I get an error message (maybe that only works with the PAL version?).

Try this Dolphin build:

Ok, this is going to be a really dumb question but where are the saves located in Dolphin?

I got this new build and I want to import my Xenoblade save over.

Ok, it took me most of the afternoon, but I finally got Xenoblade running smoothly. Thanks for that build suggestion. The game runs fantastic with it--no more sound glitches.

I'm now about 3 hours in and loving this game.

My only concern now is that I've heard that some of the 3.0 and later builds have a boss glitch near the end of some sort. Since there are only 3 save slots in this game, I'm a bit worried about that. Does anbody know if that Dirty build has that problem?

So I got Dolphin up and running with Xenoblade, but I can't make my DS3 controller work even though Motioninjoy is working properly. How do I enable my controller in Dolphin ? I assigned my buttons in the GC pad section but it doesn't work.

Also, can I transfer my current save file on my Wii to my PC without modding it with homebrew ? I'm at the point when I move on from Colony 9, it would suck to have to start again.

Assign buttons under Wii controller. Set it as emulated Wiimote, and choose Classic Controller as the extension. Be sure to configure the buttons for the Classic Controller, not the Wiimote.

To transfer a save, copy from the Wii system menu to an SD card, put it on your computer, and select Tools -> Wii Save Import in Dolphin.

Have anyone tried to run Xenoblade in the X51, i'm planing to get one but i'm not sure if it will run it in hd and i want it just to play dolphin lol haha

Is this built specifically for a certain Xenoblade region or will it benefit everything? I bet it works for every region but I'd like to be sure.

Also, are there any specific tweaks that you'd suggest to correct the audio? I've previously spent hours in the Dolphin configuration screens and I could never get Xenoblade just right.
Should be fine for any region. Audio should be fine in either HLE or LLE, if you have the rig horsepower for it go with LLE.

I don't know the answer to your first question, but this build completely fixed my audio issues and I tried two other builds and several tweaks. I have not had a single audio issue since using this build and I've played about 5 hours with it. Before I would get crackling every few minutes.

Hi Res pack for Xenoblade is great - but I'm not keen on the font or the character battle portraits. The originals did a great job of conveying the mood/tension of each team member (sad/normal/angry), whereas the high-res replacements using official artwork just don't. at all - they seem really out of place.

My only complaint though.

Thanks. It seems to be doing better for me in HLE (LLE isn't happening on my system I guess). In fact, after switching to XAudio 2, I'm not getting any audio lag and I haven't noticed any real issues for 30 minutes now.

....is it.... is it fixed? After all this time? I can finally play this game for real?

Is there an optimal way in setting your GC controller to having full function of a Wii Controller?

I really dont want to buy or use a wiimote?

So anyone knows the best setting to set everything?

How did you dump your games if you don't have a Wiimote?

This is madness.

I tried running some GC games on my PC in 480p just to see how it works and it didn't go very well, lol... pictures like these make me seriously consider investing in some major upgrade. Do you run this at full speed looking like this?

(on second thought, are you sure these pics are not photoshopped?)
