Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

thought i'd post a couple of my skyward sword shots. this is at 3x res/no AA/1x filtering

running on in i5 3570k/ HD7770, locked at 30fps

only issue im running into is my motionplus seems innacurate. bluetooth connects fine (gold wiimote connecting to a Kinivo BTD-300), and all the other controls are snappy and accurate, but the swordplay will occasionally go completely wonky (i tilt right, sword goes left), and won't register sword strikes at all. then other times it works perfectly fine.

Thats just motion plus

Whenever I try to play Donkey Kong Country Returns on Dolphin, within about a minute or so into the game the audio gets replaced by this screeching static sound that only goes away at the end of a level.

Is there any way to fix this besides switching the audio to LLE (which seems to kill my framerate)? Sorta new at this, so any tips are welcomed. I checked the wiki, but it didn't seem to say too much.

Thanks!

Are you using the sensor bar? It trys to recalibrate on the fly by looking for that. If there's some other source of IR in the room it will calibrate to that instead.

Motion plus on Wii U games works almost flawlessly. It must be an issue with the Wii tech rather than the controller.

This emulator works as a charm for me, except when it doesn't. Every game has completely random crashes. Playing on an AMD 7970/i5-3470.

ahh cool. that makes sense. i have a wireless sensor bar, so its always getting moved around. i didn't know it had any connection to motion+.

"ghastly" is the first word that comes to mind upon seeing that pack

when I saw the pics I hadn't read his post yet, and I expected the post to say something like "Mario Sunshine weird graphic glitches halp!"

I love it, it gives the game a very Yoshi's island feel IMO (due to the painted look).

If you enjoy it, stick with it. I, and several others don't personally find it appealing, but really - who cares what we have to say?

Play the game, appreciate the new visuals that would not have been possible without Dolphin, and enjoy a great Mario game.

Should I get and run the texture pack for Wind Waker? I built a new pc and I feel like replaying my copy of the game.

Hypatia: I just noticed your Sabriel custom link. I love that book and I need that :O Now I feel like rereading it.

Holy mother of goddess. I did not know Wind Waker could look so good even without hires textures. 4X Native is the most wonderful thing in the world.

Is there a patch or a solution to remove the painting effect in Zelda SS? I'm just curious to see the game without it.

In older revisions if you increased the AA (i.e 8xAA) the background would be noticeably `clearer` with less of the watercolour effect, however it causes a few graphical glitches (possibly patched in later revisions).

However the main setting you want to look at is the Depth of Field, this is what causes the blurriness/painting effect in the background. Check out the thread on the Dolphin forums below, I'm sure you'll find enough information in there.

I don't know if he's released his updated pack here, but you should get Hypatia's texture pack. It's high quality stuff, really impressive.

Anywhere I can get a Dolphin build with this? It fixes some levels in Super Mario Sunshine. Getting the source code and building it myself seems kinda complicated.

Getting a problem in Super Mario Galaxy that I'm hoping someone can help with.

I'm experiencing stuttering which occurs entirely at random. I can load the game, see stuttering, close, load again and then there's none. Then, even if it's fine, I can enter a new level then it's there again. I've tried turning just about every setting on and off and nothing seems effective.

Latest Dolphin build on SSD
Windows 7 64bit
GTX 660 2gb
i7 3770k @4.5ghz
16gb RAM

Seems like all builds after that one should support it (that is merging a branch into the main game). Latest executables are available on the main site.

There's a problem with that, because the latest build on the site seems to be older that the patch I linked. It's 4.5 months old, which dates it early February, and the patch was uploaded on the first of March.

Hi there. I've been a happy dolphin user since last week end (spent my sunday ripping my game to try them in hd glory T_T). As this was kinda my main motivation to get a desktop, I don't regret my purchase one bit (my wallet do though, and it'll keep hating it since I'm now hunting down gc/wii gems I have missed to play them properly :D).

Anyway, while testing Wind Waker (which looks freaking glorious :o) and the widescreen hack, I noticed the game doesn't render objects outside of the 4:3 zone, ending up with a weird clipping of stuff as you pan the camera left and right. Since the game was coded as 4:3 I understand the reason, but is there a way to get a proper 16:9 on this game :( ? It looks so good, but this problem is too much. I've tried looking around but I guess my google skills are not up to the task :(

Does anyone have a working link to Hypatia's Texture Pack? I just started a new playthrough of Wind Waker and 4x sized textures would really make this beautiful at 1080p.

sent you a PM

edit:

Oh crap! I just realised I dun goofed!

I had a link to a regular texture dump for WW containing the original textures, which I confused with Hypatia's high-res version.

Anybody applying it would see no difference whatsoever! :P

Sorry about that, I'll see if I can fix the mistake...

Hey, I'm just curious...Is a Wii necessary? I have no idea how any of this works so please forgive my ignorance. And if I have an iMac, is there any way to get this working on it? I just want to play Melee again....

Getting a Wii U and Wind Waker HD is the only solution I know of. :P

Yeah well since I'm probably not getting a Wii U until the new Zelda is out, let's not think about that :p.

Anyway I found some stuff about a Swiss GC ? GC homebrew that apparently can hack truer wide screen support for GC games. I'm trying to find out how to use it on dolphin, someone has experience with it ? Guess I'll just try when I get home ^^".

gumby_trucker : may I request Hypatia's Texture Pack too :o ? If I have to play in 4:3 at least I want hr textures :D

This is probably a dumb question, but... is it possible to copy a save file from Dolphin back onto the Wii and continue to play it on there? I know you can copy the save from the Wii and use it on Dolphin (as I've done that before), but can you go other way, too?

Yes, you can. There is an option to export the save file

http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-exporting-saves-to-a-wii?pid=203557#pid203557

The file will be saved in the Dolphin directory, just copy it to your SD card and voila
