Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

I can't get the TP texture pack to work... I've deleted the ini file, I've set the texture cache to every setting. I've tried 4.0 and 4.2.

So, are you supposed to rename the texture folder to the gamecube id right?

Deleting the ini file didn't worked for me.

I just erased all the text in it, then saved.

If this doesn't work, then I don't know. :/

Not only the folder, all the files need to have the game's name in their name.

Game's name: RDZE01 (Zelda TP)
Game Folder's name in Docs -> Dolphin -> Load -> Textures: RDZE01
Exemple of a texture's name in the folder: RDZE01_c948d044_14

EDIT: I tried Naruto Ninja Taisen 4, which I just got today, it runs a really smooth 60fps and looks awesome! :D

Ok, I did that and the textures are showing up, but since I deleted the ini contents, I don't have the hyrule field patch. What do I need to do about that?

This, I don't know, but the goal was to get those textures to work, right? :P

I'm in the same position.

On the positive side, you won't have to do all this gimmicks for other games, for example: Xenoblade.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That said, I tried Gauntlet: Dark Legacy and I'm really glad to say that it works well.

I really fucking loved this game back then, this and Gauntlet Legends on N64.

Now with Dolphin having online play (don't know if it can do it for local multi, though), I can see potential with this.

Ok so I got a Phenom x4 955 @ 3.2ghz, a GTX660Ti, and 8Gigs of ram, before I buy a bluetooth dongle and a wireless sensor bar, will I be able to play skyward sword satisfactory? Since I don't have a bluetooth dongle yet, I can't test it, since it stops at "please connect your Motion Plus controller". I just started it on my WiiU, but unfortunately I saw the youtube videos for the dolphin emulation of this game and the difference is night & day... After playing wind waker which I always deemed as somehow inferior to other zelda games (boy was I wrong), I need another Zelda and Majoras Mask + Skyward Sword are basically the only ones I havn't played yet ;)

I have the same processor, less ram and a less capable card and it worked pretty well. You probably can't do 2x resolution without slowdown, but it worked well enough on 1x and 1.5.

It's a 30fps game, so that won't be happening.

Poor choice of words. I mean, when I run it it's running at around 45 FPS and there's noticeable slowdown. I haven't tested a lot of GC games but I can run Soul Calibur 2 at 60FPS and no slowdown and Megaman X collection with no slowdown.

No, game logic will never be separated from framerate when emulating these systems unfortunately.

Ah, I see, well I think I'm going to say no to those textures for now. Honestly a lot of them look really rough and stuff like people's eyes look really odd. I'm really glad he put in the effort, but it's still really rough as is.

Another thing I have a question about is concerning my C-Stick. On the pro controller it snaps the stick to one of the 8 directions. So it's not really treating it as an analog. Not only that, but if you are off one or two degrees it assumes you wanted a diagonal direction. So it's really finicky.

Here's my setup with WiinUPro and Dolphin. Anyone have any ideas?

Are there any netplayers itt? I've only played Smash online, but it works surprisingly well (far better than Brawl did on Nintendo WFC, not that that's saying much).

had to deal with that last week, you have to use vjoy

also had to calibrate the sticks in game controller settings for them to work properly

That's the weird thing. I am using vjoy. The left analog works fine, but the right is all wacked. I haven't changed any setting in vjoy since I set it up, and it used to work fine. I guess I'll just create a new joystick device and see if that works...

Also, I want to try SweetFX with TP, are there any good presets available? And will it work with the newest Dolphin build?

Just wanting to know some things in advance. I have a 360 pad showing up this week, can I use it with dolphin? Is it possible to have one stick be the pointer?

I think my right stick was still acting weird too, but everything was fine after I ran the calibration from windows game controllers menu

Hey I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. But it's worth a shot.

I'm trying to mod a gamecube controller to work with a 2DS/3DS I've come across this website which has helped a lot but I don't speak Japanese and it's become quite hard to continue.

I wanted to see if anyone has done something like this or can point me in the right direction. It looks like this guy on the website has modded several 3DS' in different ways. So I believe it can be done.

Gah, keeps defaulting to "Interpreter" on my Engine. It's not a huge deal, but annoying to constantly click it back on each launch.

What version are you using? There was a bug related to that (defaulting to interpreter) which was fixed recently. The latest development builds shouldn't have that issue.

I'm using Dolphin 4.0-2049.

Edit: Updated to 2187 and it seems to be working fine again, thanks!

I did a good part of RE Umbrella Chronicles with a buddy on Dolphin.

It ran well overall, there was a stutter here and there, but it was totally acceptable.

I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I'm having a weird problem with the camera in Xenoblade Chronicles. Until very recently, everything was working just fine. I dumped my game, applied the texture pack, made sure everything was working as intended and I left it like that while I finished other games. I came back to it a few days ago, because there's been an update to the texture pack recently and I wanted to install it before I forgot about it.

I update the texture pack and Dolphin (currently using the latest dev version, at the moment of writing), but the camera in Xenoblade spins out of control on its own as soon as I start the game. If I do manage to move it myself, it only turns to the left and towards the character, until it gets as close as it can get to them.

I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing seems to be working. I'm using a 360 gamepad that works just fine with Twilight Princess (the only GameCube game that I've dumped so far): nos spinning out, no losing control. It just works as intended. I've tried switching the sticks around (left to right and right to left), but the game still does the same stuff. The same goes for using a "clean" new version of Dolphin and configuring from scratch. Not even changing the control options to the keyboard seems to solve anything: it still spirals towards the character even if I'm using the keyboard as the input method. I've unplugged every other controller that may have been making an interference with my gamepad (360 wired fight stick, Logitech G13's thumbstick, etc.), but, hey, nothing's working.

Do you have any idea what may be causing this issue? And what I could do to solve it?

Edit: Ah, crap. I fixed it. I went back to 4.0.2 and everything was working fine. I started going up with different dev builds until I hit 4.0-2167, where the controller broke again. 4.0-2148 and below work as intended.

I guess I'll ask again. Has anyone managed to get REmake to run correctly and what kind of config did you use?

i5 2400k at 3.8GHz, GTX570, 8GB RAM.

I was able to run the game fine only following whatever directions are at the wiki page. No slow down.

The only time I ever got slowdown is when i was dumping textures and entered one of the rooms that had an animated background, but as soon as the textures finished dumping it was back to full speed.

Edit: On the topic of REmake, I give to you all... TRUE HORROR.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to move a save file from Dolphin to the Wii U's Wii mode? I haven't tried and was wondering if its safe as far as system conflicts are concerned.

I'm trying to add custom Gecko codes for Xenoblade, so that I can reset character levels in NG+

How do I do this? I downloaded the WiiRD database, but there wasn't any reset level code.
I found the reset codes on the GameFaqs forums, but don't know where to insert them.

I got Skyward Sword to run now that I got a new Wiimote+ but I seem to have a problem in which the leaves from trees and bushes don't show up. Is there a way to remedy this?

Are you running it on Windows or Linux? Are you using DirectX or OpenGL in Windows? I've just had a look on some forums and it seems the problems are persistent in OpenGL. Sorry I can't provide a solution.

Using DirectX on Windows. It's not much of a problem as I can see the shadows of were the bushes should be. I just hope that little glitch doesn't affect other things.

If it affects trees, I would try and get it fixed because IIRC, the game uses a lot of puzzles through the tree like environments.

I've always had very mixed results with Dolphin in the last two years basically. I had a older Sandy Bridge i5 and a GTX 550. I have a i7, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 770 now, but I still have a tough time getting most games to run properly. I've checked the OP and I know it has guides to get a few games, but how is there not a rough general recommended settings for most games section? Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't feel like going through 220+ pages to find out. Any suggestions?

Actually, you are right. I do remember some vine swinging early on. I wish my Wii wasn't dead with my disk in it since I could've just played it on my WiiU. And probably where I left off near the end game stuff :(

Extremely impressed with how good Xenoblade looks with the HD texture pack installed. There's some occasional popping in the sound but otherwise flawless emulation on my PC.

My mind is blown by how well Galaxy 2 runs now.

Runs pretty well on my PC. Funnily enough, it seems to perform better than SMG1.

Super Mario Galaxy in HD is absolutely beautiful. Just goes to show how much Nintendo short-changed their artists when they underpowered the Wii.

Hmm that's tricky, disassembling it could be a problem if you got downloaded games/save data on there. Perhaps tweezers could work, since they're not sharp.

Installed this about a week ago, since I still have a bunch of unfinished Wii games but gave the console to my little brother. Latest version would have nice audio but gameplay would be in slowmotion all the time.
Got an older version that works smoothly enough, but it crashes regularly and sometimes the audio constantly repeating previous lines over and over.

Decided to deal with it, don't have that many games for it and I was never that much of a fan of the wiimote gameplay to explore the rest of the library.

That actually gave me the creeps.

Right click the game name and select Wiki to be taken directly to a games individual wiki page with instructions for best compatibility. AA is a performamce eater. LLE audio is a performance eater. Rendering high resolutions can be a performance eater. EFB to RAM can be a performance eater.

So i just started using Dolphin, total newbie here. Since my wiimote isn't working for some reason, i tried using the mouse and keyboard setup. But for some reason when i try to press left and right click together(i am on an imac btw) it doesn't register as A and B. Any way to solve this? what's the alternate solution?
