Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Sorry, i did that, and the rings are still spinning. still slow.
I turned off efb, no more spinning rings, no more slowdown.
Is that the only thing it affects in that game, or am I missing out on some stuff because of it?

More importantly now though, is the saving problem. I don't know if its a dolphin problem or a NSMB problem, but if I just quit, it only loads me back to the start of the game, world 1-1 unlocked. If I quicksave, it will work, but quicksaving only allows me to load it once, so every time I quit, I have to quicksave? Why doesn't it just save? And the dumbest part, quicksaving makes you quit back into the title screen. Wtf am I doing wrong?

that's not a problem with dolphin, that's how the game is designed. you can't save unless you beat a mid-world boss, a world, or the game. quicksave until then.

RD looks pretty good in HD, except for some 2D elements like the portraits - but you can actually see detail that wasn't there before in the 3D model's faces now.
I'd still love to see the Laguz in battle, though. Maybe I could upload my save later? One of them is a chapter at the Tower of Guidance.

Oh, one thing I found was nice, is you can Download and use the Mii Chanel (If you don't like using the default Miis in games they are used in)

Get NUSD (Despite listing Wiiware games and the like for download, you can't decrypt to make those Usable games due to having no ticket for them), goto Database, System, and then Mii Chanel. Pick "Pack Wad" and "Create Decrypted Contents", save it where you like, and you can now load it and make your own Miis.

You can also download the Wii System Menu and install it to Dolphin, but it isn't really that useful.

most nintendo games come with the mii channel in the update partition. right click nsmbwii in dolphin and go to "file system". partition 0 > rvl-nigaoenr-v6.wad. right click and extract.

Is anyone paying xenoblade on Dolphin? I'm hoping a good translation comes out. I can't even get past the menus. Once I click on "New game" I get a message saying that there is no Wii remote connected. I'm using my PS3 controller on my mac. D:

Strange, I am running a decent build but somehow, the opening scene of Metroid Prime deeps as low as 10 FPS slowing the game effectively sixfold. What the hell can be wrong with the settings ? I followed what OP recommended.

Eventually, the monitor crashes. But that is not strictly Dolphin related. I really want to know why I get crappy performance @ MP1.

Any way to get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 working yet? It's working brilliant for me...other than the characters/player are invisible, and the game is shrunk to a tiny window on the top left of the screen. However, it's a high rating on compatibility in the browser so surely it works well for people? Tried it on GL, DX9, DX11 and software renderer, and each have bad results.

Also, any ways to speed up Timesplitters 2? Runs very slowly for me. I could play these two on my Wii perfectly or my Gamecube, but I want HD! And my PC should be able to run it faster - an older build of Dolphin (like, REALLY old - can't remember which one) ran it 60fps! And this current build of Dolphin can run F Zero GX at full speed on my PC too.

You are going to have to say just what CPU you have.

Light 2 candles, or buy a wireless sensor bar (you can get em for like 10-15 bucks nowadays).
Or if your Wii is near your PC you could just turn your Wii on to power the sensor bar.

I got my new PC today, can't wait to try this shit out at 1920x1080!

Has anyone had problems playing New Super Mario Bros. with 2 players? I had both wiimotes paired up and the input set to real wiimote but couldn't get the game to see it even though the controller had the 2nd light on, indicating it was the 2nd players controller.

Was it pushing ctrl-f5 or ctrl-f6 that brought my second remote online for DKC:R? I can't recall... try pushing those after both are paired.

You need to activate the second Wiimote through Dolphin while at the player select screen in-game, IIRC.

I just purchased an HP GDR-8163B DVD-ROM drive. Will that work in ripping the Wii/Gamecube games I own?
Nevermind, I guess I should have Googled more.
"Please note our current stock of LG GDR-8163b are in fact labeled HP GDR-8163b; but despite the HP branding are relabled LG drives and therefore identical in all ways to the LG product. This product is easily installed into your PC like any IDE / Parralel Hard Disk or DVD-ROM device."

Thanks for the help guys, it's Alt+F6 for the 2nd player if anyone else was wondering, that will enable/disable it. Alt+F5 is for first player and I imagine F7 and 8 for 3rd and 4th.

I can't get Klonoa to work? (I'm on r7428) No matter what settings I try it just gives me a black screen. It's the only game I've tried so far that doesn't even boot. I know some other people have gotten it to work. Is there a chance that it only works on an older version?

Also, are there any settings that'll help improve performance when using LLE audio (which is necessary for Mario Galaxy 1 and 2)? I tried SMG1 with LLE enabled and it stutters pretty badly whenever a bunch of sound effects play at once.

Yeah, same question here. I know that they made a pretty good progress on the LLE plugin, but it's been like 3 months since the last time I tried, and the results were pretty much like yours.

In the Config window, Wii tab, you might have to turn on PAL60 mode. Or turn it off if it's on by default. Either way, I played the game just fine on r7060 a while ago.

So, is there any way to get the PAL60 mode to actually work? I have it enabled, and I loaded up my PAL copy of A Shadow's Tale but it's only running at 25 fps instead of 30.

I notice some PAL games do that (play at 25 or 50 FPS) for some reason (Muramasa and My Life as a Darklord are others to name a few)

I think the game plays at the correct speed. I did remember back when PAL version of Muramasa came out someone did say it was slightly jerkier (in particular with jumping) than their Japanese copy (this was no hardware btw, it ran at the same speed leaving everyone confused) so I'm guessing some games are lazy with their PAL60 support so just use the same frame rate cap between the video modes.

Some people have also said the PAL60 option does nothing in Dolphin.

A Shadow's Tale supports both 50 and 60 hz modes, according to the back of the case. When I played it on CUSB loader on my actual Wii, with the region set to force PAL60, it was running at the correct speed and I'm pretty sure that it was running at 30 fps -- it didn't look quite as choppy as it does running in Dolphin. After doing some googling it seems that people can get some games to run at 60hz but not others, but you would think there should be a way to get any game with 60hz support to run at 60 in Dolphin.

First time messing with Dolphin. I got NSMB iso'd and running, but coins in game aren't animated. I looked it up on the wiki site and it said to set EFB Copy to RAM but if I do that the game goes into slow motion. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I'm SO close to getting this working...

I finally have Wind Waker running, but I'm having trouble setting up my 360 pad. I downloaded the .ini file in the OP, and it seems to have mapped the buttons correctly from what I cant tell. When I fire up WW though, I get the screen telling me that the memory card needs to be formatted and I can't move to the other option. Pressing A does work and takes me to the next screen asking if I'd like to continue, but alas, I can't move the cursor to yes there either.

Any ideas?

Edit: Figured it out! Sweeeet.

You wait, it is a current bug. Personally, I can live with the minor flaw.

Also, anyone have any idea what I can configure with Melee to get it to run at 60FPS on every stage? Some things like Mute City bring it down to 75%, even with every visual flare turned off.

Why are the controls in DKC Returns so laggy? It takes almost a full second for him to respond to any form of input, whether it's moving the joystick, pressing a button or waggling. I haven't experienced laggy controls in any other game, so the problem isn't with either of my remotes, yet I don't see anybody else reporting the same problem online anywhere.

What is the best configuration to get decent speed on a limited CPU?

I have a Core 2 Duo running at 2,6Gh (I don't really want to mess with overclocking) and I can get most games to run at full speed, but with significant slowdowns when there is a lot of stuff on screen.

I'm mostly interested in GC emulation.

Really, there isn't much you can do. A lower resolution may help, but with a decent graphics card games tend to run just as good or bad at 320x240 as they do in 1920x1080 with 4xAA and 16x Anthropic filtering.

Has anyone managed to get Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to display correctly? I tried playing it and for some reason it's being forced to render in 480p or some other god-awful resolution. I tried messing with a few settings but I couldn't get it to render in a higher resolution. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I think I remember a while ago there were some other games like Sonic and the Black Knight that had the same problem, but I can't remember what the fix was.

How big are chances to get Wii and GC games running at full speed with a X2 5600 (2.9ghz), a HD5770 and 4gb DDR2 800mhz ram? Max resolution would be 1024x768, 720p if I had to use my HDTV as a vga monitor.

Stallion how powerful was your dual core at the time you wrote the Resi 4 config guide?

I have tried Dolphin before with Wind Waker and it ran like shit. I have a 3.6GHz dual core which I want to use to run Resi 4.

DrKirby, may I use your Fire Emblem video for my Fire Emblem Retrospective? I don't have a video capture card, so I have to rely on other people's footage. Many of the Let's Play videos are very low quality, but yours is recorded off of an emulator and it's very clean. My retrospective isn't HD, but having a good source to shrink down would still look better than 360p/240p videos stretched to 480p.

I will give you credit for the footage of course.

I was wondering witch is the best control method for wii games on Dolphin?. I fired up Resident Evil 4 yesterday and i looked beautiful! . Problem is though i have no idea how to control it either with my 360 wireless gamepad or with my mouse/keyboard?

I have googled it and also read the op about mapping buttons for wiimote but i cant get it to work :(

Help?

Will I be able to run this?

Processor: Intel Core i5-460M Processor (3M cache, 2.53 GHz)
Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M 1GB graphics with Optimus
Ram: 6 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)

1. Buy a USB bluetooth dongle for like 2 bucks
2. Go to bluetooth devices -> add bluetooth device in Windows
3. Hold the 1 + 2 buttons on your Wiimote and wait for Windows to recognize it
4. Select add, pair up without using code to connect your Wiimote to your PC. Dolphin should recognize it automatically. (If the blue lights keep flashing then go into Wiimote settings in the Dolphin menu, that should get it to stop.)
5. Get a wireless sensor bar, or light a couple of candles near your PC, or move your Wii close to your PC with the sensor bar plugged in and turn it on.

Absolutely, a friends of mine bought one of those for playing Phantasy Star Online on his PC monitor.
