It's hard for me to really care at this point. I've still got another 10 days to go before I can watch Shang-Chi, on account of every movie theater within 100 miles of me going tits up during the pandemic. The Marvel TV shows have been pretty so-so. Feels like everything that's come out since End Game has been an afterthought. Nothing feels cohesive like their movies used to.

Dune will be lucky to get over 350 million, Australia is the last major territory that it needs to release in, I'll be there watching it opening week but it'll be lucky to make another 10 million here. I want Dune to do well and I'm annoyed at AT&T/Warner for the whole HBO Max fiasco for causing it not to make much money.

Some individual MCU movies might be good going forward, but the big overarching story will never reach the popularity the infinity stones did. Also, it feels like a bunch of c list characters and Spider-man now.

You can compare all the countries on that web site and you'll see that Black Widow has generally performed better than Godzilla vs Kong worldwide. Two exceptions being Mexico and Japan. And Australia is in a weird situation where various states went into lockdown just as Black Widow released, not the case for Godzilla vs Kong. UK seemed to have been locked down at Godzillas release as well because it made fuck all money there.

Off topic but the sexist comments didn't impact Black Widows release, that's only in your brain. It's 100% the Disney+ release + COVID that impacted it, same with Godzilla vs Kong and HBO Max.

I know what you're saying, but the shine's gone off the apple completely for me. It just feels like a repetition, where we'll get another universe threatening baddie, and another whole load of films leading up to a climax that will be no bigger than Endgame. It just feels like it'll all be a bit 'been there, done that' about it.

I'm not just apathetic to the MCU. The whole superhero genre has become incredibly stale. Literally the only film I'm looking forward to is The Batman, simply because it feels so incredibly different to all the CGI filled bullshit we've had so many, many times over the past two decades. The whole multiverse, connected cinematic universe thing just feels old at this point. Time for something new.

I wasn't too invested in all these superhero films (both DC and Marvel) but did like seeing those comic book characters on-screen. But the snap in Infinity War coupled with the time travel stuff in Endgame really killed 99% interest I had in these things. Almost anyone watching knew the snap was temporary and basically turning Endgame into a showcase for the original Avengers. But then Endgame went all in with time travel and made the fake consequences even cheaper. Just completely put me off.

Marvel isn’t going anywhere. Most people like to say they were done after Endgame, while they start making excuses as to why they still saw FFH, or are just watching Shang Chi…. Or No Way Home…. And THEN they’re done lol.
Later they’ll tell us how they only went to Black Panther 3, because their friend made them.

Whether Eternals get a sequel or not doesn’t really matter - we’ll see them again. Dr Strange 2 is hardly a Dr Strange sequel, it’s an Avengere movie. That’s how Marvel does things now.

As for Eternals, it will do fine, relative to the ongoing pandemic. Will prob end up topping Black Widow. People here who are making hate posts and trolling might end up looking pretty dumb.

personally, I’m looking forward to the film but will probably wait until it hits Disney+. The lower reviews intrigue me, because something like Ant Man 2 or FFH received generous reviews and bore me to tears. I like that there is clearly something different going on here.
