Donald Trump gave an interview Thursday that aired on a television station funded by the Kremlin, arguing that the Russian government was "probably" not meddling in the American presidential race.

Speaking to Larry King on RT America, which is an arm of government-funded news outlet Russia Today, Trump said it would "not be appropriate" if Russian forces were looking to influence the race, which is suspected by some investigators and has been fanned by Hillary Clinton's campaign as recently as Thursday morning.
He also suggested that the allegation was politically motivated.
"I think it's probably unlikely. Maybe the Democrats are putting that out -- who knows," Trump told King. "If they are doing something, I hope that somebody's going to be able to find out so they can end it. Because that would not be appropriate at all."
Jason Miller, a Trump spokesman, told CNN the interview was recorded as a podcast and was a favor to King, adding, "Mr. Trump was never told it would be shared anywhere else." Miller later said Trump wouldn't have agreed to do the interview had he known it would be aired on RT.
The interview was striking given that Trump spent Thursday on the defensive over some of his laudatory comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin. Clinton attacked Trump for praising Putin on Wednesday evening at the "Commander in Chief Forum" as a stronger leader than President Barack Obama, and her campaign has for weeks pointed out the alleged ties between Trump's associates and Russian interests.
Yet the Republican nominee's operation on Thursday indicated no discomfort with the mounting criticism, with Trump running mate Mike Pence echoing the distinction made between Putin and Obama. And the appearance on Russian television suggested no hesitation from Trump to dive into the controversy.
Putin has called the hack of Democratic officials' email accounts a "public service" but has denied Russian involvement. Asked by King if he agreed with Putin's assessment, Trump declined to pass judgment.
"I don't know who hacked. You tell me: Who hacked?" Trump said, claiming he had not heard Putin's statement. "I have absolutely no opinion on that."

Goes on Russia today, stanning for Putin. There is something going on, folks. There is something going on.You tell me what it is.

Larry King is still alive?

They have the technology.

And this won't get brought up by CNN and no one will care.

He's the Gish Gallop of candidates at this point. There's too much noise and controversy so none of it sticks for long

Kind of off topic, but RT's reporting on the Russian athletes being banned from the Olympics was certainly different.

Is this considered a big deal in the US? In the UK, it is the left-wing politicians who don't just go on RT, but even take money for appearances on Iran's Press TV.

I mean, I'm pretty ignorant on UK politics, but from what I've been hearing Labor is just a mess right now, and things like that can't be helping. It's definitely not normal in the US, and it's one of the many things that would be political suicide for any other political candidate not named Donald Trump.

Why is Larry King working for RT?!?

He also has a lame infomercial on late at night, I don't even know what it's about but it's bad

honestly, for once, i could actually buy trump's story here. I can totally see him and his team doing jack shit to research anything, being generally ignorant and just going with 'let's go on Larry King's new show'.

I mean, they're probably still lying their ass off, of course. still, not out of the realm of possiblity

I could actually see this being a honest mistake. It's Larry King, they probably didn't think about it beyond that. It doesn't look good but I'd give him a pass.

Larry King is still doing some good interviews. I watch his new show every once in awhile.

There definitely isn't a shortage of things to criticize Donald Trump on, but I'd consider this one a non-issue. He did an interview with Larry King who is now working for RT America.. that's not an issue.

In fact, I'd go as far as saying I actually quite enjoy Larry King's show PoliticKing, and would recommend it

I wouldn't even call it a mistake

The issue with the Putin/Trump love thing is the republican base is ignorant enough about the world that a large percentage do admire him for his 'toughness' and damn the rest of it.

Putin's been involved in some shady shit. Stuff people don't even remember like that nuclear submarine that went down in testing. Entire crew lost because the Russians weren't prepared including the crew who blew the damn thing up underwater and his administration wouldn't let international diving/rescue teams help. Hundreds of Russians dead. Reading about the families reactions and his reactions to them is astounding.

And this is just like a small tiny footnote in history. Big things Crimea, LGBT abuse etc Dude is garbage.

I really can't blame Trump here. It's Larry King. I assumed it was a lookalike until I read the text confirming it's actually king because why the hell would Larry King be on RT?

This is one of those cases where I just shake my head to people trying to make this a big deal when it's not. There is so much legit stuff against Trump everyday that you can use, yet for some reason you have to resort trying to blow up non-stories like this. Also I'd advise you to get some perspective. Using US news media as a standard of neutral reporting (in regards to international affairs) is not what a wise person would do. (Even if they're still better than some of the shit on RT.)

I don't get why people bash on US news. What better newspapers in the world exist then the Washington Post or The New York Times?

Even outlets like Fox as terrible as they are are independent of government intervention. There's no comparison here.

Shocking news.

The production company behind Larry King’s programming, which taped an interview with Donald Trump that was beamed over a Russian-backed TV channel on Thursday night, says the GOP nominee was booked for King’s weekly political talk show.

That differs from the Trump campaign’s explanation of the incident, which was that Trump believed he was being interviewed for King's podcast.

In a statement emailed to TPM Friday, a spokesperson for OraTV, the television production company that makes and distributes “PoliticKING with Larry King,” said Trump was “always” booked on that program.

"PoliticKING with Larry King and Larry King Now are produced and owned entirely by Ora Media, LLC., who are solely responsible for its editorial direction," the statement read. "RT America is one of several dozen companies who license these and other Ora programs for distribution around the world. A visit to www.Ora.tv will provide several examples of our content. Larry King is a part owner in and employee of Ora Media, LLC. and neither he nor his producers are employed by RT America. Mr. Trump was always booked on 'PoliticKING with Larry King' for Ora TV."

Those of you seeing RT for the first time try and keep this in mind. They used to be an even more obvious propaganda outlet

A few years ago before Abby Martian was kicked out for condemning the Russian backing of separatists in the Ukraine,

Her show covered topics such as the Wests lies about the DPRK and how its not that bad there.

Roseanne Barr demanding the truth about 9/11 and to beware MK Ultra mind control

To last but not least her trying to start her brothers rap career by having him preform a full song about how the west shouldn't intervene during the beginning of the Syrian conflict.
When at that stage it was civilian protests demanding regime change while the Syrian military used its force trying to prevent such protests.

That's just the stuff that sticks out in my mind from the older RT.

However RT appeals to the libertarian/3rd party supporting Americans so its kinda smart of him to go on RT.

Oh I just remembered RT was releasing false reports on their channel about the MH17 the day of saying it was an assassination attempt on Putin, to the Ukraine government are neo-nazis so they shot the plane down.
And after having a segment on their channel they would make sly online retractions that no one saw.
