Trump has declassified JFK files

That's unfortunate, but at least there is a timeline. Is there an official reason for the delay? Either way, I'm glad it will be happening.
Something with the already planned timeline of the MLK archive files release. They were always planned for 2027. Maybe they’ll do it early now though.

You can try to cover up rot so that others don't see it and you are spared shame, but it risks allowing the rot to spread freely. Left untreated dry rot in a wooden house for example can spread to different parts and even risk the structure of the building eventually.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
Well that and he refused to interfere with Vietnam

All three men were each in the middle of doing a remarkable job of bringing the country together and that was not allowed. Keep the division and hate flowing. A true unified country could overthrow the government. BIG NOPE to that.
He quit listening to the military after the bay of pigs went south.

Trump said he was going to release JFK files his first term, but didn’t. In an interview he was asked about this. He said something along the lines of not wanting to release it after seeing what was in there. Maybe we will finally see what he was taking about.

He cited national security reasons. Maybe one of the people involved has died since then.

We all know it wasn't Lee Harvey Oswald its quite clear he was shot from the front.
Not sure that I buy it but the most hilarious theory I’ve heard was that Oswald was legitimately trying to kill Kennedy didn’t get any lethal shots off but a secret service agent FBI or LEO accidentally shot Kennedy in the face while trying to take out Oswald.

Then there’s the theory that the reason there’s a jump in the film is due to an edit of the secret service guy in the car shooting him in the head.

We barely know a fraction of what the CIA, and to a lesser extent the FBI, was up to in the 1950s and 1960s, and even knowing that, it's still incredible that we can still call ourselves a country.

In one sentence, everything you think you know about the time period is totally fake.

Pleasantly surprised he decided to deliver on this. On the JRE he said people involved are still alive and he trusted the person that advised not to release it--Why the change of heart?

He also said he would divulge the drone situation hmmm 🤔

Yep. I’ve taught American History for 20 years (public and collegiate) with a focus on the Presidents; Kennedy’s Joint Chiefs of Staff wanted war and Johnson was willing to give it to them.
That makes absolutely no sense. The first R president who saw this would immediately release it because it would delete the dems from existence.

As much as anyone can hate the guy, this is historic and should be agreed on by everyone.
Also, political thread.

BBC report

"In 1992, Congress passed a law to release all documents related to the investigation within 25 years. Both Trump in his first term and President Joe Biden released piles of JFK-related documents, but thousands – out of a total of millions – still remain partially or fully secret.

Trump promised to declassify all of the files in his first term, but held back on his promise after CIA and FBI officials persuaded him to keep some files secret. Today's executive order states that continued secrecy "is not consistent with the public interest".

I mean sure, I'm also curious to know what happened.

... But why is it relevant today?
It’s not, but people will waste their time on something that happened 60 years ago because they have nothing else to do. Plus Trump promised this during the campaign so even though he will not make good on multitude of other promises he made he will show it as a proof he is a man of his word.

I know the JFK stuff is what people want to talk about but the MLK stuff is fucking crazy. Its even crazier when you think about all the P Diddy stuff.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
What are we expecting? Surely even if declassified they’ll be heavily redacted?
