I'm American. If I choose to move to France, the U.S. didn't "send" me. When Trump said "Mexico is sending," he was literally talking about their government sending their problem people instead of jailing them.

He later clarified to the people who needed the clarification, as the sound byte confused some. From the rest of your post, you can see where the falsely interpreted statement contradicts other parts of the same message ("many fabulous people come in from Mexico").

So when you claim to me -- in the same post, by the way -- that Trump is talking about all migrants, I'm a bit offended at how gullible you think I am.

So if the US wouldn't 'send' you, why does Mexico now 'send' their people? They don't. Or in other words, Trump is peddling bullshit about Mexico/Hispanics and pandering to racists.

And that's not falsely interpreting jack. It's him covering his ass. Say it with me. Dog. Whistling.

And I repeat. Smoke. Screen. Dog. Whistling. Just because he throws in one nicety doesn't mean that the message isn't loud and clear: These people south of the border are not wanted. He dedicates two paragraphs to bashing Hispanics before bothering to offer any kind of clarification. And that clarification comes across as empty. Which is why Hispanics had backlash. But hey. Let's ignore that. Anyways, his 'clarification' reads this: "But I'm sure there's a few good ones somewhere in there. I even know a few". It's like a more mild version of 'There's black people, and then there's niggers and I don't like niggers' mixed with 'I have black friends' that can be said publicly. Because that's what a dog whistle is. Saying one thing but implying another.

All other polls released post debate had weird methodology (online polls). This poll represents better what happened during the debate (Jeb flopping, Marco doing great, etc)

His 2012 book explicitly says the same thing about the Mexican government sending criminals over. It was conveniently written 3 years before that speech where he didn't realize he needed a clarifying word.

Your dog-whistle theory is valid enough for me to give that some proper consideration. But as for him saying what you said he said: No, he didn't.

The bureau of labor statistics criteria for "labor force" is ages 16 and over, there is no cutoff for retirement age and that is why the number is so high. It may be true, but it's incredibly misleading.

Him having a pet theory about the Mexican government actively shipping criminals is about as valid my pet theory of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The fact that he's held this theory for years doesn't make it true or okay.

And if you accept that he could be dogwhistling that's all that's needed for Hispanics to dislike him with reason. Because at best he's an idiot that's doubling down on a crackpot theory that manages to imply that immigrants are drug dealers and rapists on the side with godawful wording. At worst he knows exactly what he's doing, dogwhistling and pandering to the racist contingent of America.

There was only one online poll, the others were more traditionally and had Trump holding steady. A bunch were released yesterday showing the opposite of this one's result (when it comes to Trump).

His book sounds like it was referencing pamphlets given out by Mexican officials about everything regarding being an illegal immigrant in the US. Its a pretty comprehensive guide. You can see it here courtesy of the Wayback Machine..
