This guy scares the hell out of me. He is getting more and more support for his un-PC gimmick, and he may have a shot at this whole thing. You guys keep saying he won't get the nomination or he won't win the general election but he has come this far with doubt behind him. If he can somehow get swing voters, we're screwed.

God bless America, and God bless the upcoming president of the United States, Donald Trump!

Governments can pressure companies, yes. Boycot Ford until they change their ways, it is possible.

It isn't the most smooth way to tackle globalization, but it's a way.

You're telling me, the government is going to not allow Fords to be sold in America unless they bring all of their jobs back to America?

You're taking crazy pills.

He's just throwing out headlines with no fucking substance.

"Need to build a wall." Funding from where, how long, etc?

"Obamacare needs to be repealed" says nothing else

"Iran deal is a disaster" says nothing else

"Build up the military" doesn't say how or why

What kind of regional accent does Trump have? I can't place it.

edit: holy shit he's jumping from topic to topic every quarter minute.

"So about ISIS...."

+ 10 seconds later

"I'm going to take great care of the vets!"

No joke.

Ever since the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage, I've been listening to AM talk radio for grins. This is basically how they all discuss things all the time.

"Guys, I am going to make the military so big and strong and we are going to scare so many brown people. It's going to be awesome"

*30 second applause break*

donald trump is not going to be the next president.

it will not happen.

I was positive he wouldn't win the primary, I guess it's possible he could since this is the weakest Republican field maybe ever, but if he's served up to Hillary he will be demolished.

We need Jon Stewart back on the air RIGHT NOW!!

CBS is to mickey mouse to let Colbert do anything about it :/

edit: People thought the same thing back when Regan was running because he was an actor!! Don't underestimate him

You're telling me, the government is going to not allow Fords to be sold in America unless they bring all of their jobs back to America?

You're taking crazy pills.

You're stuck in a paradigm that is imposed by big money. ' You can't do this, we can't do that'

Just so the Ford CEO and his buddies can keep sniffing lines of cocaine bought by a fraction of all the money they save by exploiting workers in foreign countries.

It is possible to pressure companies, government used to do this all the time until they got bought out by the market.

No. Do you not understand how taxes on trade work? trade policy? It's possible for the government to deincentivize building your factories abroad. A lot of American companies are dodging taxes and doing tax inversions. He's not a crazy person for saying it's an issue.

Government can put heavy import tariffs on cars produced overseas.

It isn't anywhere near that simple. It involves renegotiating trade agreements with the countries you put tariffs on or they'll respond in kind and limit the market for our exports. Plus, decreasing competition almost always has a negative effect on the market as well.
There are much better ways to do it that are no where near as difficult.

Bernie Sanders is also for this AFAIK.

I don't necessarily think it's a great idea but admittedly global economics is above my pay grade.

Swing voters are the main reason he won't win. If he was polling this well in June of next year, I'd be sweating a little. But this is sooooo early in the game. Look back at 2011, we had some pretty out there frontrunners. Being ahead in the polls a full year before the convention doesn't really mean much towards getting the nomination. That is a very long road. Doubly so when we have like 17 other candidates with the same party. The numbers get more interesting when people have to drop out and we see who their supporters end up gravitating to.

But anything is possible. I just don't see Donald coming to the center anytime soon. He's too abrasive for people who lean left, and I don't think most conservatives think he is sincere. He definitely has struck a chord with some folks out there. But he just seems reluctant to attempt to woo voters. It's refreshing, but I can't see enough people buying it.

Yes that's why I can't see your point, I've been brainwashed by big money. That's why I don't think the government will BOYCOTT Ford.

Government can put heavy import tariffs on cars produced overseas.

They can. That is actual pressure they can put, and I'd love for any advocating this to put forth an actual plan instead of just shouting.

A TON of Fords are made and produced in America. On this example, by my count, Ford has double the amount of plants in America than in Mexico.'

He said that the government would boycott Ford. That describes nothing that you're talkin about. Yes I understand everything you discussed in a lot of detail. I'm pointing out how silly it is to say "boycott Ford until they bring their jobs back".

Educated republicans are why he can't win the presidency. They know Hillary is a centrist corporatist and they will vote for her because she'll keep the normal economy moving along and the stock market buoyant whereas Donald Camacho will start World War III because he doesn't know that foreigners have translators.

What'd he say about Jeb?

Apparently:

"24 million people watched the debate. 24 million. Did you think they tuned in to watch Jeb Bush?"

LOL.

And now you're embarrassing yourself. Yes that's why I can't see your point, I've been brainwashed by big money. That's why I don't think the government will BOYCOTT Ford.

If you don't like to be hit back, don't start the ad hominem war.

You have 0 arguments why it would be impossible for the government to impose pressure (through taxes for example) on US corporations that manufacture outside the US.
Yet, yet you think it's weird. Sounds like imposed bullshit limitations to me.

Free trade is a scam atm, the elite is profiting and you keep opposing any hard hitting solutions. GG

I addressed your point about boycotting a company that manufactures all over the world, which you have conveniently ignored.

As I said above, I would love to see an actual plan instead of shouting. Shouting does nothing but get people to cheer that don't understand. I don't think he has a plan.

Right and I don't think Trump has a plan either, just wanted to point out that pressuring corporations does work and is possible.

He's just throwing out headlines with no fucking substance.

"Need to build a wall." Funding from where, how long, etc?

"Obamacare needs to be repealed" says nothing else

"Iran deal is a disaster" says nothing else

"Build up the military" doesn't say how or why

He's gone into all of this though.

"Need to build a wall." -> Mexico will be forced to pay through new trade negotiations. Wall is not all along the border or where geographically unnecessary, and in some places fences will do.

"Obamacare needs to be repealed" -> He's gone into why it's faulty and how it needs competition and bidding. I'm pretty sure he's even said to expand Medicare for those who can't afford to pay. That it can be funded with those sweet foreign deals.

"Iran deal is a disaster" -> He's gone on and on about not including the 4 hostages, the 24-day warning period which would let them hide the nukes, the warning before the inspection warning, etc etc.

"Build up the military" -> Make us a heavyweight so we never have to throw our weight around, support the vets, etc.

You can disagree with his points or to say that he's still not going into enough detail, but to say that he's never expanded beyond a tweet-sized bullet point is just wrong.

You should loan democracy your Gordian knot solution. Why didn't anyone think of this before!?

Yes, the government can put pressure on companies and they can incentvize them in other ways as well. With that said, the united states government will never boycott or threaten to boycott a company as you insisted to bring all of their jobs back. And frankly, no I don't expect a global company like Ford to do that either.

I had said repeatedly going into this campaign season that the GOP primary would be better entertainment than anything written for TV.

Here we are, looking at a campaign appearance that - for anyone else - would be a run-of-the-mill event. And there's a three-page GAF thread for it.

Please stay in, Donald. You're providing entertainment beyond what we expected. Magical.

Eh, he also demanded to know why Jeb Bush hadn't built a wall. You know, the governor of Florida. Trump isn't playing six dimensional chess, he's cheating at Parcheesi.

This is basically the Gettysburg Address for the new american century. Fuck off lincoln. you're through. we have TRUMP now

Btw its worth noting that Trump does not use teleprompters, something pretty unique among those running. This is why his speeches can be a bit funky or lack details since hes pretty much rocking everything off the cuff... Obviously hes going to have know these details with or without a teleprompter soon.
