Go Go Neo Rangers!
I believe the wording was 2 campaign add ons. They said they will be giving out some master levels for freeAnyone know if the DLC going to be just master levels or will there be some new narrative/campaign content?

Agreed, it’s probably my favorite weapon in the game (again).It is so fucking wild using the SSG to propel yourself across the map toward a demon to come down on him with your chainsaw. I was avoiding the SSG like I typically do because of the ammo usage but you have every reason to use it here, ammo is free and dear god that upgraded meathook is just amazing.
For ammo.Why would you chainsaw an enemy you can glory kill?
For ammo.
It's going to be legit narrative/campaign DLC from my understanding. Master Levels are going to be added from time to time, along with events, etc. Not to echo Nikana, haha.Anyone know if the DLC going to be just master levels or will there be some new narrative/campaign content?
I felt that way about the ending too, but with planned DLC coming, I figured it's gonna feel more buttoned up, haha.Just finished it, that last boss is a chore. And man they really can't land an ending, Doom 2016 was a let down in that regard but at least it was a slight twist + cliffhanger, this is just.....you did it! I would have almost appreciated just a screen of text instead as a throwback lol. Pumped for getting the rest of the stuff and then moving onto the harder difficulty levels. Will definitely be buying the Season Pass.
From my experience of playing ultra violence and hurt me plenty and also hearing it during an interview with Hugo Martin , difficulty only really helps your survivability by making them do less damage per attack and also actually attack less. Other than that the encounters are the same when it comes to number of enemies and variety. So I would guess you can still get that rush without getting your face ripped off as quicklyDOOM[2016] is more like kung-fu movies where you fight a few guys at a time while rest strafe around you in the background looking menacing. I haven't had a chance to play Eternal yet, but it looks like every enemy is fully aggro'd and constantly advancing towards you in a straight line like the Netflix show Kingdom, where they are running and freaking out at you full speed.
Would just playing on Easy solve the problem some people have with game, or does that break the experience?
I just finished it today. The game is just way too heavy, I really think they went too far with all the things to do and the enormous enemy encounters with everyone having different weak points. It's just way too much and I wouldn't be surprised if this game induced seizures in some people. I close my eyes and I can see monsters hunched over glowing orange and blue. It's still a phenomenal game and I respect how hard they went after and nailed the arcade aesthetic. I'm excited to hunt down the last few collectibles and to see what the game is like just straight running through the combat of the levels. But it's not the perfect experience that was 2016. I understand the people who are vastly more satisfied with this than 2016 but I can relate more to the folks who returned it for a refund. It's a controversial game in that it evokes such strong opinions on the opposite end of the spectrum. It's just such a huge behemoth of a game.
Yeah, I'm a little overwhelmed with the different options during combat. During a fight I'm just trying to avoid the enemies and need to think about:
* Chainsaw for more ammo
* Flamethrower for armor
* Glory kill for health
* Switching to best weapon
* Using weapon mod (i.e. secondary fire)
* Target weak spots
I think I'd rather armor and health pickups around a battle arena rather than trying to think about so many different things while being chased and murdered by the enemies. Of course there is a balance between mindless shooting (Serious Sam?) and something more but I feel Doom Eternal has too many systems you need to juggle.
Just my opinion though ... the game is still fantastic.
I played the shit out of Doom 2016 and now also Eternal so I feel qualified to answer you — the secrets on the whole aren’t as intricately designed as Doom 2016 — they’re a little easier and a little more obvious. They also rarely contain ammo or life, now it’s a 1-Up or a music track or a hidden doll. I was able to find pretty much every secret on my own this time on my first play through. Don’t get me wrong though, exploring is still a lot of fun and quite rewarding, it’s just a small step down from 2016, and that could also be because this is a much longer game with more (and bigger) levels.I'm only about an hour in, so maybe this is way too early to judge, because some games evolve as you play, but so far it feels a lot different than the previous Doom. It feels less... I can't figure out how to describe it... the level design seems less intricate and complex and it seems even more frantic than the previous Doom. Doom as you progressed added some Metroid-like elements to it with exploring, finding hidden secrets, some backtracking and intricate level design. I remember clearing certain areas and just walking around and exploring nooks and crannies. This level design feels a lot more bland and straight forward so far, and the enemies just never stop pouring in, it feels like they ramped up the action and dialed back the Metroid elements the previous had.
Is this the case throughout the whole game or does it evolve more as you play? Because that is one of the things I loved about the previous one. Exploring for upgrades, looking for the nooks and crannies in the environments. It had a sense of exploration I'm not feeling in this so far, although I did find some secrets so far but they were very unimaginative.
It definitely gets easier over time. You'll start performing some things instinctively. For me the "hardest" part was to remember about using the flamethrower, but I didn't have any issues with regaining health and ammo.Yeah, I'm a little overwhelmed with the different options during combat. Kill the large and more dangerous thing with your glory kill and then hunt for the walking ammo farms. In every skirmish so far, except for the one in the last level, I've been able to buy time by simply running and looking for the fodder demons, then engaging again once I'm topped up.

I saw a good deal for the game so I went ahead and bought it for the Bethesda launcher (almost 50% off). It is pretty decent. Better than 4 but still not as good as Shadow Warrior 2. The gameplay has a nice pace but the one thing that really bothers me is how little ammo you carry. I got an option twice to upgrade my stuff and both times I picked ammo and I feel like I don't have significantly more than I had before. I usually go through two guns before I kill some of the beefier bosses. One time I ran out of ammo and was chased around the arena by an arachnotron and there was nobody to chainsaw, that was really annoying. It also irks me how punches don't deal damage anymore for some reason. Movement is very good though (after you get the air control rune) and the damage masks on enemies are great (reminds me of EDF 5 and Killing Floor 2). Still, I don't regret my purchase. One thing I found funny is how when you leave the first temple you can see the Earth's hellish landscape with the big monster, which reminded of me of Resistance 2 but far less shocking, that moment you come out of that bunker and see this, one of the greatest "wow" moment ever, I stood there for like 15 minutes before I went on, but I digress, DOOM 6 looks very pleasant, I don't see the "cartoony" look some people complained about.
I know all those things, but thanks.Zombies and soldiers spawn in at regular intervals, so focus your chainsaw on those dudes once it recharges every 30 seconds. Punch is weaker now because you unlock an ability called "Blood Punch" which builds up as you got glory kills. It eventually causes a shockwave when you punch that can decimate multiple enemies at once.
It also irks me how punches don't deal damage anymore for some reason.
Well, I guess it is an instinct from 4 where I ran at an enemy shooting at him and punching at the same time to put him in the dazed state. Just a habit I suppose.I felt that initially too, but you literally have no reason to melee guys anymore for piddly damage. You shouldn't be melee attacking big guys unless it's a blood punch or glory kill, and if you're trying to kill a fodder demon with melees, why? Wait for the chainsaw pip and use them for ammo, or use a weapon.
Wait, isn't there some sort of gauntlet or survival or random missions? I thought the whole reason why it is called Eternal is because it has "infinite" content.I know it has the Master Levels and the Slayer gates and so forth, but god damn I really found myself wanting a Survival mode or something akin to DMC's Bloody Palace Mode.

-Having to repeatedly chainsaw zombies in the middle of intense fights got me swarmed too often by bigger demons
You just wait till you see the last boss.God damn it I love this game.
The climbing and jump dashing mechanic is weird and kinda metroid almost but I like it!
Combat is super intense, almost too fast for me at times. just an overwhelming onslaught of brightly coloured demonic viscera
Love the medieval techno architecture they have going in some places, it reminds me of Quake a bit, especially the jump pads. Truly this is a game that celebrates the whole legacy of Doom!
I have to say throughout this initial playthrough the Maurader is the only thing I've really had trouble with. It seems you have to avoid him while killing the rest of the demons in the encounter before squaring off with him solo to finish the fight. Other wise you get gang banged by everyone and him and his doggo.
Is there a way to go back into levels after you’ve beaten the game, on different difficulties (like you could in Doom 2016)? Or do you have to start a new game? I went to Mission Select but didn’t see any difficulty options.
