I like rooting for EG and against any team that RTZ is on.

So the IHL survey has been running for about a week with 42 responses. Most of it isn't too out of the ordinary, but it seems like the big bone of contention is the bracket split: exactly 50/50
I have seen tons of arguments both for and against it here in this thread as well as the "other improvements" section of the survey.
The biggest factor will depend on number of players. About 25% of the responders had not played in previous IHLs, so that is a good sign there will be new blood.
I'll have to organize the MMRs in a spreadsheet to figure out where to draw the line if it is to be drawn.
I'm thinking if the split does happen, the winners of both brackets will play in a Bo5.

Lots of stuff like "5000" "5k" "5k-ish" "5-6k" etc.
At initial glance, I've seen 2k to 5k generally.
hylian my man just logically how you think having a group of 5 2k's face off against a group of 5 5ks is going to work out in a bo5. you'd just be sending sheep out to a 15 minute clown fiesta slaughter
i'm not a fan of the split mmr/split community to begin with but you've heard my thoughts on that at length
Yeah, you've got a point. The idea sounded okay in theory.
Granted the same concerns can still pop up in regular play, but that's unavoidable really.
It's looking like 99% chance of no split, hearing more thoughts on it (from TUSR) and thinking more about it.

What was the system before? Mix and match MMRs until everyone's on a reasonably balanced team?

Captains chosen by IHL admins (if the player is interested in doing it), captains draft players. If I remember correctly lowest MMR captains got to go first.
Complaints were often about the arms race of snatching up all the high MMR players, leaving those toward the end of the draft with little of that caliber to pick from.

I just did that, went from i7 930 to 6700k because I started getting random crashes under load, I think the mobo was dying. Got a 970 as well up from HD6950, the change was nice.
iirc the captains towards the end of the drafting order always ranked highest in the tournament though
Yup, i just don't se a bracket split helping anyone at all. The ebst part of IHL is play with/agaisnt people better than you and elarning from it, splitting brackets is almsot no better than just standart queuing.
Finally, an r/dota2 post I can get behind.

Meh, the September Secret lineup is no fun.
It's the Winter Arteezy Remix track that drops all the panties.
Seems like I can't not be on teams with feeders. Played two games last night and in one of them we had a PA feed and another a FV feed like no tomorrow. Even though we had another strong carry who was able to outfarm, it was not possible for that carry to team wipe 5 well fed heroes. Feeders suck.
I had that same thought the other day and indulged it. Don't do it.
Not pictured: the fifth ranked solo queue game I played where I'm like "fuck Skywrath, if these 2k losers think I'm playing solo support again while they pick 4 hard carries, one of them goes AFK woods and the other 3 feed in lane they've got another thing coming" and then I randomed Skywrath again but thankfully my shitfuck team abandoned.

man, your team's draft has no front liner, NS wwould eat them alive...when i see shit like this pick I team fighter like undying, axe or some shit to soak the aggro.. but yeah they had a really strong early game
