Dragon Age: Origins vs Inquisition

Didn't Origin sell well on consoles? But I guess this new stuff they're making now is selling even better and winning awards so they'll probably stick with that. Mind you I don't think I have ever seen any sales numbers for Inquisition. They always say it did well but never follow up with numbers. Weird...

Origin did sell well on consoles, but had notoriously high trade ins and people giving up the game before even hitting really early story beats (as told by achievement scrapers). The marketing sold it to console gamers as a fast paced action game where you cut through hordes of enemies while Marilyn Manson plays but then they got a taste of what the gameplay actually was and gave up.

The sales were good enough for them to continue to try and chase them and led to Dragon Age 2's 'press A for awesome' and Inquisition's spammy and mashy combat. I highly doubt we'll ever see a tactical RPG like DAO made again for consoles.

Origins is incredible. Inquisition is wide and shallow in comparison. It seems like all the things you do don't even affect the world at all.

I loved both games, but I think inquisition had way too many random quests and objectives on the map. I wish it was more organic in discovering quests and not broadcasting things all over the map. I felt overwhelmed. The game had no mystery because everything was a check mark...

DA:Origins is the shit. I just started playing it and racked up nearly 70hrs already. One of the best RPGs I've ever played and I'm rather disappointed to see DA2 and Inquisition are downhill.

Inquisition took the game lore/world to the level of possibly-best-in-the-industry so I'm gonna go with that.

The lore and world building in Inquisition is ridiculous.

Don't think I've gone through that much unread text in anything ever.

Also the backstories and details you can get just from talking to people is insane.

Makes me wish that I really got into the first two.

Inquisition felt better paced than Origins. Origins bored me faster and it had to much micromanagement.
Neither story really captivated me. Origins was a bit more original and both have interesting conversations and characters.

Origins have hornless Qunari. Inquisition isn't. That alone already make the former much better than the latter.

Those who said post Origins Dragon Age have better lore don't know shit what they're talking about. One easy example is how the Qunari have their strangeness and uniqueness completely evaporated by sticking unnecessary horns to their heard, changing their fantastic defining feature from custom, traits, and culture to a mere physical trait such as horn.

Put in 27hrs in one week playing Origins. Bahgawd I love this game.

Funny to see the Deep Roads posts after just finishing them. I'm slightly conflicted about it. Loved the combat and constant fighting. The shit is loooong though hahaha. I felt like I was doing a Paragon of Her Kind for the last 5 days or so. I wonder how many hours total the Deep Roads clocks in at.

I'm a lil anxious to play Inquisition b/c of ya'll posts. They dumbed down combat that much?
